What are your thoughts on these sleds and the EFI in particular? I am thinking about getting one to hold me over till I get my Sabercat.

They are a great sled. My brother had a 98 ZL 500 carb and it was an awsome sled. The 500 engine is very potent and will keep up with some 600's. It is also sitting in a good handling chasis. The EFI is excellent, way better then the carbs in most every way. If you can get it for a good price it would be a great sled :thumbsup:

I have a 2000 ZL500 EFI and love it. Planning on keeping it at least 2 more years. Just don't want to part with it. I would never go back to carbs. It is the first and only liquid cooled sled I have had so I can't comment on it's speed compared to others, but I can tell you that it goes as fast as I ever want to go. I have had it up to 95 mph. My only complaint is the high engagement speed of the clutch. I had a local shop install a new clutch spring that brought it down to 4000 rpm from 5000 rpm. Now if we could just get some cold temps and snow!!

Those are awesome sleds,easily keep up with 600s on lakes and 700s on tight and twisty and bumpy trails. They are awesome sleds and the 500's rock like everyone else said.I'd deff. say it would be a good choice until u get a sabercat

very strong engine. Arctic Cat 500's make the most HP out of all four manu's.

However. Always a good idea to borrow a compression tester, and check the compression. How many miles??? Take for a rip, and make sure you are not over revving. Stock AC500 should max out at 8500.

Also check for cracks in the frame. Especially near the can and clutching.

cant comment a lot on the 500, but I can say you should love the efi,,, I have it on my f7, first sled with efi, and I dont think I wanna go back to carbs again,,,,,
