Paul...the highest I've gotten with my 670 is 100 miles to a 10.7 gallon tank. If that means anything to you. http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

rocketman,
*we had to go 148 miles once to get gas on the weekend. i like the 80th anniversery sled and i know where there is one new so my thoughts are, well you know. guess i am going to change my post and ask for stock mxz 700's.

Yeah...but I figured...670---> 700...close enough! *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif *The newer 700's with reeds probably get about 120miles to a tank.

rocketman,
*no problem my thinking is i did not want someone to post a piped, ported & geared sled and say what his goes for mpg because that wouldn't be close.

My brother got about 100-110 to the tank on his 02 MXZ DPM. *I dont know if the DPM helps with the fuel econ at all. *But I thought I would throw it in there. *Hope this helps.

last weekend i ran from hornepayne to hearst *and didn't fill up at the gas stop at highway 11, i ran 115 miles on a tank and when i filled up in hearst i put in 39 litres. i ride a 02 700 80th ann. i get great mileage trail riding but poor mileage running lakes and playing in the snow. this weekend i rode to wawa and of all seven sleds there was only one better on fuel and that was a 500 deluxe with a lady driving it. also i thought i was using lots of oil early in the winter but the pump must have been stuck open. on one trip i got 400 kms. to an oil tank or 100 kms. to a litre *but the last two trips i've been getting 250-300 kms. per litre. i have 3300 kms. on my sled so it is broken-in. hope this helps.

i forgot to ask what are you driving now? i rode a 00 700mxz for two years and i get the same mileage with the 02. both sleds had dpm. i wouldn't buy a new one without it. http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I am running a 99.5 mxz700 with DPM. *I have gone as far as 120 miles on a tank without getting stranded. *I would say that was about the limit though.

middle age crazy,
*i ride a 500 mxz, we were in sudbury and went to shining tree only to find out they were out of petro. i know where there is a sled new like yours and would love it but between one fill up we had to go 148 miles, will a 02 700 mxz with dpm go that far on a tank ?

Paul,my 02 700 get 10 - 11 MPG. Better carry a x-tra tank if you gotta go that far.

On a totally stock MXZ700 w/dpm the most i have ever seen was around 150km.

machzzzz1,
*i hope you meant miles not km.

Machzzzz1
03-18-2002, 05:39 PM
Nope Paul sorry but 150 is the best i did. *It has the dpm so it should be jetted correctly and no matter how hard or easy i drive it it always gets about 150 if not less. *There is no problems with it and the heated carbs are off unless it is really cold. *This is what you have to expect. *

On my 600 grand touring i get about 170 and on my mxz 500 i get about 180. *On my mach I get about 160.

okay now 10-12 mpg u.s. gallon it looks like tops to be 120 miles to a tank. now just how fast are you guys travelling ? i travelled with a group of 6 the other day 3 fifteen year old boys, a mother of two of them, the father of two of them and of course me. i think we get along at a decent clip but sometimes when we met a group coming toward us of "guys" only with big power sleds they were flying i think those guys are greatly decreasing the range in their fuel tanks.
*if you are thinking hey he was riding with a woman and a mother that is an accountant {she's an accountant} don't count her out because even when the sled breaks she can fix it. the 15 year old kids have no fear of speed.

Paul:mileage depends on conditions and where you have the throttle set.I've seen as low as 65 miles to a tank and i'm sure it could be worse. At average speeds and good conditions i get around 90 miles.

Ditto, 90-95 miles max. *I have a 2000 MXZ 700 that I ride in Canada a lot, and I would not push for more than 95 miles. * We ride moderate speeds, and I get around 10-14 mpg, depending on conditions, without dpm. * Don't chance it, stick with under 100 miles and you will be o.k. * http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Paul,

Definitely the Top Hat. If you could find one of those long cigarette holders, then that also.

And just for the record, with my 700 Grand Touring, I get 14-15MPG, Imperial Gallon that is. *Thats some pretty fast ridding. *Much better than the 8 MPG I used to get on my Arctic Cat 580.

FishHog

I must say, its a good thing you Brantford guys have a good sense of humour.

hi paul, i don't think i would get much pass 120 miles on a tank. i went 115 miles and i was not riding hard but not slow, moderate i guess. each time i went on a trip i got better mileage than everybody else except a ski-doo 500 deluxe. everybody else was riding 600 & 700's * http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Rode my 2000 700 in Quebec last month. I know you wanted stock but as an FYI. My sled is ported, RK Tek head bored carbs gutted airbox with factory pipe. Trail crusing 40-70 mph I got about 12 MPG. Include some lake racing and hard trail riding I had 109 miles on it when I refilled. It took about 10gal when I did the conversion from ltrs. My son riding a FZ 600 DLX got aroun 15mpg all the time but he was very light on the throttle. To guys riding with us with MXZ 700 and 800 with twins were lucky to get 8 mpg. I also found a 1 gal anti-freeze jug fits nicely right next to the chain case. A small bunji-cord will give added protection from it bouncing. A gallon of safety fuel if you will. ronzx9.

i have a 2000 mxz 700 w/ out DPM..while ridin in the U.P. this year i got anywhere from 13-15 miles per gallon. *moderate trail speeds...great sled! enjoying a great purchase! http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I love mine, the only thing I can complain about is the oil usage.Fuel mileage is not a big factor for me(plenty of gas stops) I don't like carrying extra oil.Only some gas stops carry the Bombi oil. http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sleepy.gif

Holy crap, ronzx9! *You call that "safely fuel" when it's that close to your muffler? *Quite the opposite, I'd say! *Hope you wear a firesuit when you ride.

performancex, I didn't actually have gas in it, it was antifreeze but after 400+ miles of agressive trail riding it never moved. If I was going on a long trail ride where fuel might run out I wouldn't hesitate to carry some fuel there and just ride accordingly. By the way it stayed put without the bungi cord. ronzx9.

ronzx9 anti-freeze, glycol, is extremely flammable. There have been many fires caused by it. It has alcohol in it so be wary of the stuff.
