Yup I went sledding this afternoon :hallo1:

Put about 60kms on the sled, between Chelmsford and Azilda(Sudbury) :)

Trails were ok but not groomed quite a few sleds out there today, the lake was nice with 7" of powder w00t

The bad part were the dam ATVs on the trails :cussing:

Who the hell do they think they are?? :cussing:

The worst part is a I met up with one a Yamaha Kodiak or Grizzly going the wrong way on a one way trail!!!!!!!!!

Sorry but there is snow out there GET YOUR F N ATVS of the trail!!!! :cussing:

I had a GREAT TIME RIDING what about you?? :D

How is the riding in your neck of your woods :blahblah:

FreezerBurnt,

Same Lament here, too many half wits on ATVs not understanding signage or the fact that if your tires ar bald from agressive summer riding, you don't have a snowflake's chance in he!! trying to get anywhere on snow!!!. A buddy trashed a trailing arm hitting a large rut on the snowmobile trail caused by a wayward ATV this afternoon and I cooked a belt towing a really stuck ATV out of a gully. Otherwise pretty dam good conditions here in West Quebec. Hope it doesn't rain Sunday !!!

Ya might rain here sunday :(

But at least I got to ride a bit :)

That is what I found today when riding in low areas ATVs rutted up the trail base in the mud now we are stuck needing more snow to get rid of the ruts

I seen a few Banshees on the trail today roosting up when ever they can

I it don't rain too much we will have a great base for January, lake was awesome cruising at 80mph in 6+ inches of powder doing high speed turns on the Lake :hallo1:

Where abouts West Quebec?? Ville Marie?

Its just great for an ATV, little or no snow and most of the water holes are frozzen. Real crappy conditions for the snowmobiles but atleast some people are getting put and enjoying themselves while the others are suffering from lack of snow :cussing: Guess it was a little early to tear the 4-wheeler apart cause this is the best time to be riding it now.

Hmmm maybe I'll take my dirtbike out for a ride with my snowmobile suit on, just so it feels right.

The little snow we had here is almost all gone.

Glad to see you gloating about how many klicks you've put on your sled. If you down here in southern Ontario, you'd be whining about why did I buy my permit?

I just hope the non-snowmobilers that own ATVs know enough (which I doubt) to stay off the trails that are on private property.

1-Once again I am whining about friends giving up the sport due to price increases :sly:

BTW this is the latest that I got my 1st ride of the season, usually we ride by mid Nov and have snow that stays by end of Nov 1st week of Dec :)

2 Of course they know they are riding their ATVs on OFSC trails and on private property, like I said before they don't give a dam :cussing:

Once the trails are groomed most stay off groomed trails yet there are still a few brave idiots on their quads on our trails :dazed: :!:

Freezerburnt, if my map serves me correctly than Chelmsford is only about 15km from Lively.
That's only and hour and fifteen minutes for us. Your saying the trails are open, and riding is okay? I can bring the shotgun for the ATV's ( relax, just kidding :D )
It's raining here in Pointe Au Baril.

Chelmsford is about 15 minutes north from Lively(HWY 144 bypass)

But like Pointe O Baril it has been raining here today :( :cussing:

Hope fully it don't rain to much

Trails are NOT officially open but rideable the past 4 days,we need another 10-20cm to start to groom

Might need to install some spike belts for those quads

For obvious reasons you haven't included your name. If you are in Ontario & riding your ATV on OFSC trails that are on private property, you are trespassing simple as that.

Here where I ride is Regional carleton R.C.S.C. the atvs are not allowed, but next door Eastern ontario E.O.S.C. you can buy your pass for the ofsc trail. I believe it is up to the clubs to decide. I asked my club why they don't take the extra money and they said it was just to close to the city for four wheelers they would drive down the side walks of Ottawa.

Saint Lazare, St-Clet and Rigaud Quebec. Inter-Provincial Trail #33 from the hydro Quebec servitude right down to Lac des Deux Montanges is well covered but also rutted by you know who.

revrnd,

Your sentiment is falling on some deaf ears. I commented about trespassing on my farm property last year and was repaid with scorn, disrespect and threatened with physical violence amongst other delightful metaphors. It is best to just let the proper authorities deal with the scoff laws. I have since had to refuse passage through my land to all vehicles to avoid accidents and other costs incurred posting signs and installing hurricane barriers to keep traffic away from sensitive ecological areas. Not a good choice to be made considering that I'm an enthusiast of all motor sports exercised by all ages.

Maybe in your neck of the woods.....

Riding an ATV on an Ontario trail is probably the fastest way to end up with a black eye! They don't belong on OFSC trails in the winter, and if they ride them in the summer, their still trespassing. Until an ATV-only trail system is set up (and that day is coming....), they really have nowhere to ride legally, except crown land.

With the growing popularity of ATV's, hopefully this issue will be addressed sooner than later. The last thing we need is ATV's on the snowmobile trails - we have enough trouble keeping people from hitting trees!!!!

MXZOOoom
12-29-2003, 03:39 PM
Heres it is again next to the OFSC singe, also trails are closed for lack of snow so the atv's are not allowed either.

The Hossman
12-29-2003, 03:40 PM

Here in Parry Sound the local radio presents a daily snowmobile trail report, and today as always they made it very clear that it is illegal for an ATV to be on the already closed trails, of which the majority are private property. Gonna ruin it for us all.

There is still 4 to 5 inches of ice infront of us, but it is sheer ice and very difficult to steer on. Not really much fun, and really hard on the sled.
