i've installed a dig 30 4 display on a 02 tcat every thing is stock setup probes are installed at 100mm from pistons and are showing very hot temps across the boardat mid ranges with steady cruising speeds they will climb well above the 1250 burn down temp 1300 to 1400 when checking plugs and wash they show slightly rich needle adjustment will bring temps down near 1300 but then runs very rich and fouls plugs also mag side seems t run hotter help

Did you use clamp on or weld on connectors? Also I am in the process on hooking up a DT54 to my 2000ZRT800, which wire did you splice into foir power? Thanks

I used clamp on sensors. and was very meticulous about my measurments and placement. only thing is to make sure you take the pipes off,so as to keep the chips out. and the mag. side pipe sensor positioned properly. i also varied the probe depth, if unless it's at the extreme the temps stayed consistant . now as to reading my plugs and wash, they tell me it's running on the rich side. how much variance can i expect without leaning and possibly damaging the engine?
p.s. I plugged in at the acc. lead near the headlight

Where did you get the 100mm measurement from? I called D&D and they told me 5" from the piston, but mine is a 2000 800. I am going to call them one more time timmorrow before driling holes. I had to put two of the probes out of the top of the pipes and one out the bottom, do you think this should hurt anything? Getting the clamsps there was a real pain as I had to notch all the clamps a few places to clear the spring hold downs, I kind wish I had went weldon, but oh well. I thought you were supposed to take power right of f the coil? WHat color wire did you use to splice into, I do not have a wiring diagram and do not want to mess it up.
Thanks

are you checking your wash at the same throttle position that the temps are running high? or at wot? are you holding the throttle open while you shut down?it doesnt make sense that it would be reading 1300 and running rich

the meas. where taken from the skirt edge of the piston, readings are taken at 3000 to 6000 rpm after that they cool down to around 1200. Wot plugs black wash half the face at exhaust side. mids' black plugs, wash thrid of the face. playing with the jetting and clips poss. till i'm at a good burn at wot looking at p/w gauge about 250 t 350 differance

have you tried adjusting the fuel screws .my sled had a very lean spot in that range as well (approx 1/4 throttle)and that was with a richer needle jet than factory. mine is a 99 so i dont have the flatslides.im pretty sure you cant change the needle jet in those carbs. i would be looking at your fuel screws and go from there .the needle controls from 1/4 throttle up but mostly from 1/2 to 3/4.the needle jet controls mostly 1/4 throttle.that is for a round slide but i would think it would be similar to a flat slide .fast 426 any yellow wire should have 12 volts when running

You said everything on the engine is stock. Is the airbox gutted? 320 (stock)mains?
I too have been chasing very high mid range temps (1350+) in a modified 2000 TCat. I've spoken to many people including EGT and Digitron. I've been told that the 1000's run hot and not to worry so much. A very knowledgable dealer told me that you'd be amazed at temps on stock engines, especially in the mid.
I'm still not done trying things with my combo, but I know that if I dropped the clip on the needle, my cruising temps "looked" safe (~1150) but the engine was running so rich that it loaded up, missed and fouled plugs at 1/3 throttle cruising, so it was obviously way too rich at "safe" temps.
If the sled is stock I wouldn't be too concerned with the temps, especially if the plugs and wash look ok.
