Is there any way to tell if the oil pump is pumping on a 84 ss440 without pulling the oil lines out of the intake??

No not really. Just drain your gas tank and mix up a gallon of 40:1 and put it in. Pull the lines and fire it up and see if oil is coming out. Or you can rig up an oil bottle with 40:1 and hook it up you your fuel line if you don’t want to drain the tank.
