Anyone here about or have any issues with the pull starter on the 2000 MXZ 700?

Mine has pulled apart 4 times now and it's p!ssing me off. It's an easy fix but you have to take the exhaust off to get at it every time.

Anyone know anything about this and possible fixes so it doesn't keep happening?

i'd like to know too! my 01 formula deluxe 700 has the rewind broken too and we don't even use it cuz of elec start. the rope must have been rubbing on something

Not sure if they had any problems on the 200 MxZ 700 but on the 2002 MxZ 800 there was this servive bullitin:

What exactly has happened, is the rope breaking or is the inerds of the recoil just not engaging?

the recoil casing cover is pulling completely away!!

My cover totaly disintegrated last year (I posted a pic of it which you may be able to still find on this site if you do a search).

It's not too much more expensive to buy the entire recoil assembly than just the cover, so you might as well have an entire new unit if you're going to replace it.

2003's weren't any better, mine exploded last week. Dealer fixed it under warranty. They gave me the same recoil with some new parts. Lets hope it holds together this time.
