99 Mxz 500

Last season was out on the last ride of the season and the motor let go..took it to my local delar this week and they quoted it at 1700 cdn to fix they said they need to re pour the cylinder walls new pistons bearings the whole motor needs replaced.. what do u guys think should do not fix it or .. pay 1700 or find a whole new motor or what other suggestons . This sled is in mint shape not a mark on it.

Maybe you would like a bigger motor? They all fit so take your choice ,just remember to change all parts muffler, throttle cable ....everything! I put a '97 mxz 583 rave in my '94 mx470 (used the muffler from '95formula Z and changed jets to match) all cost me $800.00 from use dealer in Kazabazua

Personally I'd do some investigating. There are lots of Sled scrap yards where you can get a good deal, and you have to factor the value of the sled in versus the cost of repair. Unless you are mechanically inclined then stay away from the engine swaps, as they tend to be high maintenace and devalue the sled upon resale. My opinion only.
