I came home today and noticed quite a bit of grease on the right hand side (when sitting on it) slide rail about half way back. Could this be because of the warm temps we have had for the last 3 or 4 days? The sled only has maybe 75-100 miles on it this year and was preseason checked at a dealer prior to that.
Thanks

find out where the grease is coming from, grease has to have some extreme heat before it will melt.

It's possible that you have a seal leak from the chaincase.
You might want to check your level more regularly than normal until you figure out where it's coming from.
It could also be just a leaky idler wheel bearing seal. You could pop off the seals and check and re-grease them.
was preseason checked at a dealer prior to that.
DON'T trust dealer mechanics for anything! They mean well, but simply don't have the time to check everything on the sled -- that would take days to do properly, not hours.

One dealer by me is notorious for that. I made the mistake of taking my last machine in for the 500 mile check-up or "inspection", i swear they did nothing, just wanted my 140.00.
i have had some of the extra grease from careless greasing get drug around by the idler wheels as the track goes round, gets everywhere doesnt it?

Could it not be grease out of the upper swingarm shafts falling down off the inside of the tunnel sides onto the sliderails?

yes, it is. i was just out in the barn putting on tunnel stiffeners {vogue} and the inside of the upper idlers are covered with purple grease from the dealer/manufacterer. the sides of the tunnel and on the sliderails are covered with purple grease.

Could be that the dealer just dropped some grease there when serviced and didn't bother to clean it up. Wipe it off, ride a bit and see it it comes back.
