Would twin pipes on a mxz 700 do much .. do they make the sled drink alot of gas ..

Twin pipes are harder to tune, they will require tunning for different temps, altitudes, and other factors to get any gain, but if you like setting it up before every ride (that's if the temp stays constant) you'll gain a fair bit of HP. :christmas:

I put on a set of used pipes on my '00 700 last year. I had a friend of mine help me clutch it. I didn't think it felt much faster than without the pipes. It sure sounded sweet though. I've read on here previously that twins won't add much to the 700 if you don't port it. The engine needs to breath better to take advantage of the pipes. My pipes were from Crank Shop, and the literature that I got from them said that the heads should be cut to see much power from the pipes. I didn't port mine or cut the head. I sold the pipes off of it and replaced the sled with an 800, mainly for RER. I can tell you that you won't need to wear a boot on your right foot if you buy the pipes with stingers! I think my foot would have been warm in a sneaker.

on the dyno 9hp on topend.from the crankshops twins with stingers.I do not find the sled that finicky to tune,it does have dpm and is fully functional.the piped sled with a rider 70 lbs heavier is faster than the stock 700 twin, not much faster but it is carrying 70 lbs more.put the heavy rider on the stock one me on the piper and I walk all over the stocker,5-6 sleds in 1000 feet.I hear you on the noise and heat from them though.

I bought my mxz 670 with twin pipes from FAST already installed anyone know where to find them on the web so I can find the clutching recommendations? I am pretty sure nothing has been done to the clutches.

FAST recommended changing ramps from 286 to 228 or 145's. They also wanted to gear down two teeth on the top gear.

I ran Fast twins, 145 ramps, 200-320 , 18 g, with a 50 deg helix @ 17 pounds.
Geared 24-44. K&N filters were a must on mine. I couldnt do much without them and Fast noted this too. When the stars and the moon and the earth were properly aligned this sled was WICKED fast. Otherwise not much faster than a stock 670.
A head cut to .065 was a welcome mod.

Fast sold a 150-80 RV with these pipes and highly recommended the use of it with the pipes. Short boots work well also.

I use to have the data shhet I will look for it.

If I recall I ran 420 mains at low alt with the K&N's.

If I recall they claimed 10 hp more at 8250 RPM. 8400 on my tach worked best.

I still have the FAST RV and the K&N's if your looking.

What setting on primay clutch screws to bring RPMs up a bit? It is still at 7800rpm.

You cant run Fast twins @ 7800. You will be making less power than stock.
They need to see at least 8200 ACTUAL RPM. Usually around 8300-8400 on the tach.

A customer of ours just tried out a set of Decker Twin pipes on his 800 REV 04. He used Deckers can that weighs 2 lbs and is a little louder than a Dyno Port can. The fit is very nice better than most that I have seen. Decker is also making an adapter so the stock or other can can be used. He was down to 2 on the clickers and still turning 8500 to 8600 Rpm. Had to cut the tuning short because of the conditions but they sure look promising. He tells me he is going to have to add weight to the primary. Decker claims 16-18 horsepower.

I will be testing a set on our 800 REV 03 soon. The sled has DNE porting, RK Tek head and new pistons (lighter than stock and two rings) the only thing that is a minor problem is the pistons are .002 tight for the stock bore, I have to get them re-plated anyhow as I squeeked the engine a few weeks ago when testing the nitrous (fuel line kinked on the nitrous system). I also just got the Paragon torque converter in (had to wait 2 months). The jugs should be back next week so we can start all over again-can't wait- this thing is a Rocket.
