: Remote Start
FuzzButt 12-29-2003, 11:56 PM Hey with the modern era of fuel injected sleds how about someone put a remote start kit on it so you can warm it up while you are still in your hotel room.
Of course with all the rain we are getting in Lower Michigan I guess wiper blades may be stock soon.
JasonF 12-29-2003, 11:59 PM Wasn't that an option on last years Cats?
slow500 12-30-2003, 12:59 AM yep, artic cat has that. I seen it on the 2003 video
ZR Sled Head 12-30-2003, 01:02 AM Sure would have been nice in the brutal cold of last season.........sippin a coffee lettin it warm up, now thats heaven.
Rick.
phat_cat800 12-30-2003, 10:11 AM Yeah Arctic Cat had it avaiable on the 2003 ZL's and its also avaiable on the 2004 Sabercats and Panteras.
fennsz 12-30-2003, 10:25 AM Is that still considered snowmobiling?
butternutz 12-30-2003, 10:43 AM Arctic Cat. is there anything they cant do?
puree 12-30-2003, 10:56 AM very nice option and it will be on the sabercat,,,,,
sno_nuts 12-30-2003, 02:21 PM It would be my luck while it was warming up someone else would jump on it and be gone!!!!
phat_cat800 12-30-2003, 02:58 PM With the cats the sled can't be moved unless the key is in the ignition and in the 'on' position. My stepdad got a 04 T660 Turbo Touring and he thought he would have it and was more excited about that then the sled itself. LOL But it wasn't an option on it so now he has to go outside like the common folk.
Spaceman 01-01-2004, 11:39 AM It's SWEET. Especially when you hit it when your buddy is in the trailer and your in the room. LMAO
MXZOOoom 01-01-2004, 12:04 PM Ok so you can buy them, but in the long run are you asking for trouble??? From what I understand when your sled idles the oil pump does not work.( it is said gas is good enough lube at idle is it?? for how long 5 minutes,20? the time it takes to get dressed?) When I start my sled to warm it up I always play with throttle (wich activates oil pump) so I figure this is better for the motor.
phat_cat800 01-01-2004, 01:55 PM Not sure about the oil pump deal but we have always started the sled and let it idle for approx. 5 min to let it warm up really good. We normally get dressed and ready in that time and haven't had a problem yet. No siezures or even fouled plugs.
Darrylthenewf 01-01-2004, 02:46 PM Got it on my 2004 Sabercat. Me thinks it is a great option. I snowchecked my sled in April 2003 and they throw in the remote start. :)

On most Mikuni sleds there is oil being pumped in at idle. You might be up to the 100:1 ratio. The pump is variable. The only thing you might get from a really long idle is overheating or fouling the plugs since most are a bit rich at idle.
puree 01-02-2004, 03:04 AM Whether you use your electic start to start it and warm up, or if you go out and pull it to start it and let it warm up, your gonna have the same problem if the pump doesnt pump at idle,,,, I have always let mine run about 5 minutes before taking off and then I baby it for a few minutes before I play,,,,havent had any problems yet,,,,
spaceman, good one,,,I once had an alarm that would tell you to step away from vehicle if you got too close to it, and we used to have a blast sittin in Mcdonalds and hitting that thing when someone would park beside me and start to get out of there car,,,,,, some of the looks that that alarm got was worth the price of it!!!!!
pdionne 01-02-2004, 08:27 AM The oil pump is just that... a pump. It has an idle flow rate and a WOT rate, and everything in between. If the aftermarket catches wind of this needless concern, next thing you know there will be kits to rev your sled while it warms up!
