Reading the posting's here it looks to me like there are two types of SDI's. Those with a small battery and no electric start, and those with the big battery and electic start. I've had zero problems with mine, except the range is'nt what i expected. I believe that is caused by not having a full tank to start because of an air pocket in the tank. I'm going to try a see through tank for that. I'm confused because I ordered my sled as a snow check with no electric start. Then SKI-DOO phoned me and said sorry we're only making that model (renagade) with electric start in the SDI. So is there two types? and if so could a lot of these troubles (fouling plugs, running poorly, etc.) be with one type?

Thanks strange, I spring ordered a renegade X 600SDI and mine is NOT electric start. I'm not sure if mine has a big or small battery, but it appears to be about the same size as a standard motorcycle/ATV battery.

My battery's about half way between a car and a motorcycle battery in size and it's placed in front of the right footwell.

Snow Check? Ski-Doo's spring order only program is called Spring Fever, not snow check. My 04 X Renegade is Non-Electric start and has a small battery, roughly half the battery compartment size. There is is styrofoam there to make up the difference. The SDI non-electric start was originally supposed to be battery-less SDI but they couldn't make it work right, so along comes the battery. What do you mean air pocket in the tank? The fuel injection system works on high-pressure. Unless you were completely out of gas, I find it impossible to see how you can get air in there. Imagine how much the gas moves around in the tank when riding but the fuel still manages to get into the engine without air. The plug fouling problem is happening on both systems, electric start and non. I have fouled 4 plugs so far. Now that I have switched to straight gas, I haven't fouled any plugs.

People have noticed when filling the tank there is a small amount of air in the tank toward the back of the sled/tank.
TO FIX: I have heard people say sitting on the sled usually is enough to lower back half of the tank and suspension to get the tank filled to the max with out having that little air pocket in the back.
Hope it works for you :)

 :) Two updates to the SDI I just had done yesterday 1:ecu was remapped from B.U.D.S. skidoo's dealer website[leans the rich condition that leads to plug fouling& backfiring among other things 2:the electronic rave sensor heater was checked to see if it was wired correctly, mine wasn't the fix was to reverse the wires in the connector block on the heater.
