I thought about buying a Triton Low Boy this winter but after looking closely at it decided not to. The reason was that I couldn't figure out how to properly load the trailer. The rep. said Two sleds forward of wheel wells facing forward, two sleds behind the wheel wells facing backward. The problem I saw with this is a majority of the wieght in the trailer is way back. With two sleds facing backwards behind the wheel wells the toung wieght would be very light. I don't know alot about loading big trailers but I do know that it's important to have some tounge wieght. Does anyone have experience with this trailer. What is your overall opinion. Thanks.

Nope but would you care to run spell check before posting? More than one wrong word is lazy.
Its "Tongue"and "Weight"
As far as loading the sleds so there is a front to rear balance your asking for disaster. You need to have 10% of the trailer weight on the tongue. More if your hitch can handle it. This is for control reasons. The trailer may not have the axle in the center of the trailer so the pivot point may be farther back so more of the rear sleds weight is on the tongue. As far as loading them backwards. Not a good idea unless you own a fiberglass company and/or like buying hoods and windshields. Besides the ski's of the rear sleds can tuck along side of the front sleds so they will take up minimal room.

Sorry DAD!
I did run spell check. But thanks for correcting me.
Also I'm not so stupid as to not know how to load a trailer. It's just that I've taken measurements in the low boy and they just don't add up.

Well if your measurements are right then the sales guy must be wrong in his stating that 4 will fit on it correctly. A rear heavy trailer is going to push your vehicle all aver the road or worse.
I just thought I'd rip ya on your spelling of tongue.

The spell checker gave me that after I butchered the spelling. I'm a little sensitive about my spelling. Blame my elementary school and ITA for that. The salesman stated that you put two in facing front and two in facing the rear. Which leaves the heavy part of the rear sleds at the very back of the trailer and the two forward facing one's with the heavy part facing forward. leaving no substantial weight over the tires. Also about 5 to 6 feet with nothing in the V-nose of the trailer. Yes I know about weight distribution. I've been in vehicles that are pulling trailers that have too much weight rearward. Can't even steer the darn things. I'm just trying to find people who have spent the $11000 on these trailers to see if they like them. If you've seen one they are absolutely awesome!

What trailer is this? Standard configuration or inline?

Check it out on Tritontrailer.com I think it is 31 foot overall length. 102" wide and 6'6" interior height. The Tires sit in and have a wheel well. Absolutely awesome looking trailer just not sure how functional it is. I've seen it in person.

I really need to keep this thread current. I want a new four or six place trailer and really like the looks of the lowboy but am not sure about it's functionality.

The only lowboy I saw was 98" wide. Drive them in from the front and stagger them or from the rear. I'm pretty sure this is the trailer my friend has and he pulls it with a F-250.

Also check outTrailite (http://www.trailite.com). They are familiar with Triton. They were most informative when I corresponded with then earlier this year.

For one thing, why would you want a trailer that by the sounds of it. you'll be having to hand pull at least one sled in? There is no way you can have 2 sleds facing forward and 2 facing backwards without having to manually pull one up in the trailer. That is of course unless one or more sleds less have reverse. I've seen the trailer on the net and it's looks very nice, but for all purposes if thats the only way you can load it to get 4 sleds in, I'd be looking for another trailer.

The dealer had never tried to load a low boy so he was just offering suggestions. I mentioned the pulling of sleds into a trailer. Just would like to know how people who own them load the trailer.
