LOOKING FOR A LITTLE ADVISE..... IS THERE AND EASY WAY TO REPLACE THE OEM PLASTIC REAR SPRING ADJUSTER. HAD THE HEAVIER SPRINGS INSTALLED AND DEALER RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE ADJUSTERS, UNFORTUNATELY THEY HAD NONE IN STOCK. I ORDERED PART THROUGH DENNIS KIRK AND NOW HAVE THE JOY OF INSTALLING MYSELF WITH A HEAVIER SPRING INSTALLED. I BELIEVE THEY ARE ALL THE SAME BUT THIS IS AN 02 ZL800SS.. ANY HELP/TIPS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED :dazed:

MAYBE I WASN'T CLEAR ON THIS TOPIC.....I'M TALKING ABOUT THE REAR SUSPENSION ADJUSTMENT BLOCKS. THEY STRIP OUT IF YOU TRY TO TURN IN THE WRONG DIRECTION AS I DID. :blahblah: WOULD LIKE TO REPLACE WITH THE BJ HOOKER ALUMINUM BLOCKS. WHAT WOULD BE A GOOD WAY TO TAKE SOME TENSION OFF THAT SPRING SO THE BLOCK COULD BE REPLACED??

From what I can see you need to remove the bolt (number 42) that is holding the front spring support (number 12 in picture). After this bolt is out you should not have any spring pressure on the rear adjuster you want to replace. I think the only thing that is holding the rear block is a crimp on washer that can easily be pryed off with a screw driver. Put on your new blocks and use a set of pliers to put the crimp washer back on and install the front of the sprint assey. I think thats it.

Be careful when you are taking the lower holder off of the skid - their will be allot of tension on the spring. I have used a pry-bar to hold the spring in and up when undoing the lower holder. - Good luck.

I need to change mine also,,,, I hate having to roll the plastic ones over,,,, mine stripped so I had to take the spring off, set the block where I wanted it and then put the spring back on,,,, isnt hard, but a second person can make it a pretty easy job,,,,just dont let go of the spring,,,,,
