Hey Yall,

I have been having some trouble with my 97 FIII 600.

It is fouling plugs BAD ... Not always from the same jug.
1st it was number 1, changed that one ... then number 3, changed that one .... and now #2.

After about 1 hour of this nonsense this morning I changed them all again, put the sled on a stand, started it and got on the throttle, kept on the throttle until things were good and warm kept it bouncing from 5500 - 8000 rpm.

Pulled it off the stand and ran it up and down the road ... IT WAS RUNNING GREAT! It was the sled that I remembered!

After a bit I went for a ride with the boys. All seemed OK.
BUT that didn't last long at all ..... It is fouling plugs again ..... What could be causing this?

It has new fuel, a new stator was also just installed and the carbs have been sync'd.

My buddies all thing that it just needed a good run but that didn't seem to work!

NEED HELP!

Checking the 'doo Spec Booklet the '97 FIII calls for BR10ES plugs gapped .018"

I had checked the manual .. Plugs and gap are right.

Check you spark plug boots. Remove one and shake it, if it rattles slightly, your internal 5K ohm resistors are cooked and probably the cause of the stator trouble.

I stop into the skidoo dealer to pick up 3 br10es. The service manager asked where are you putting those. I told him in a 96 formula 600. He said take br9es, the 10 we're too cold and continously fouled.Try to have this info confirmed by your own dealer.

There was a service bulletin that came out in 1998 or 1999 that said "all Ski-Doo triples to use BR9ES plugs w/ gap 0.018 inches". Ask to see it at your local Doo service department if you don't believe me.

Have been using BR9ES or BR9EYA's in my 700 triple for years without a single issue.

What do the plugs look like that had popped? are they wet black dry black white????
i had this issue for my first run yesterday. popped 2 plugs as soon as i hit the trail.
it was using to much oil. the Service place i took it to, moved the oil setting up, because i had a piston replaced at the end of last year.
but since i lowered the pump all is good.

Yes doo went to 9's but I suggest dumping NGK and try Denso. I had a very similar problem with my 99 machZ. I would average about 100 miles and then lose a plug. Always a different cylinder too. I switched to Denso iridiums and never fouled one again in over 1,500 miles.

Well, she is all fixed!
Turned out that the timing was WAY OUT.
Had it out last night for a good run ...... everything is good, real good!

I am still going to change to the BR9ES plugs like you guys suggest.

Thanks a bunch.
