Still running my Pantera 2003 800 EFI.. but got stock again... :cussing: The rear fuel filter call SMart Valve by Artic Cat got clug again... Last year there was a recall on the front fuel filter (Smart valve) now I got my rear filter clug .... Does any one know what is the purpose of those smart valve as call by Artic Cat... I woul rather use and external fuel filter at the output of the electric pump before the fuel manifold.. more easy to change than the filter in the tank... and less expensive than those Smart valves....

My ZL had the recall done also,,, however i would have thought it was for BOTH or ALL of these smart or dumb valves,, before the recall i noticed ALOT of gold colored flakes in the tank bottom,,, :cussing: my zl seems to run very good :) all the time,, and it never did some of the bad things i read about with fuel delivery or lack of like some did :blush: good luck with yours... let us know!!

Is there any time you should change the fuel filter on efi's. I think mine is the original one from when I bought it, unless the dealer has changed it without me knowing. I have a 00zr600

I have done some investigation on the Smart Valve... and found them dirty.. fill with corrosion depot may be from some field fuel provider... can't always be sure of fuel quality... :crazy:

I clean the filter (Valve can be dissemble) and perform a functionnal test on... I was surprise that they really work... :huh: What I mean as long as they are immerge in fuel they remain open, but if you try to pump in open air they will close... to prevent air insertion in the fuel supply... so they are really Smart Valve... :unsure: The fuel transfert is done by capillarity... so that is the reason they are so sensitive to foreight debris like rust....
