Hey yall, got all my goodies on my sled. SLP single with stock can, boysen reeds, SLP Flowrites and airhorn. Changed mains to 540's and dropped the clip to number four like they suggested. Also put in 66g weights and a MBR helix based on Matt's suggestions. It idles great but had a flutter in the midrange before coming on the mainjet hard. I raised the needle back to the number 3 position and it's cleared up a bit. This was two weeks ago when it was about 30 degrees and not much snow. I could only make 100 yard runs. I'm heading back up this weekend as we have snow and want to make sure it'l run good. I've been reading around and most agree that even SLP's jetting recommendation is conservative. Some guys are dropping back to the 500 mains down to 10 degrees with no problems. By the way my plugs looked good but I could not run it hard enough to really tell. Again any suggestions on the needles. If I still have the bog can I raise the clip to the #2 position safely? One last question. I certainly know how to take a plug reading but how does one do a piston wash reading? What do you look for? Thanks a bunch. Looking for this thing to rip!!!! :)

Whoa danco, all the kids posting "who would win, my 89 400 or an f7?" have blood squirting out of their ears. I have the same sled and know what you mean with that funky ever so slight bog at mid to max range. Motor sounds like she's gurgling a tad. All I can add is that this seems to disappear with cooler temps, like down in the single digits. My XC 700's plugs look textbook at around 5 deg. ft. Let us know if all the $$$ is worth the extra power. Loving the power I have, but would pay more if it helps. Later, Big Daddy.

How does the SLP single sound? Any different at all?

I guess I'll find out tomorrow night. Lots of snow in N. L. Michigan. I'm hoping by raising the clip back into the #3 position did the trick.

The pipe just sounds a little more tinny than the stock. Overall sound is not any louder than stock. Of course I still am using the stock can. Don't want to sound like Bliar Morgan. :p
