I am interested in knowing what you all have done to your 583 rotaryvalve rave motors... I have seen some stuff around here, but would like to hear your inputs.. I just got a 96 583 mxz was-racer. Ideas? head shave, port, what else??

I put a mbrp standard silencer on with no apparent gain in performance, although it's alot lighter. I removed the swaybar to save more weight, and to help with the moguls. I just finished gutting the airbox to DNEperformance specs. That made a nice diff. Gained about 250 RPM. Gonna have to add some weight to the arms.
I would shave the head, port it, pipes, port the exhaust ports, maybe bore out your carburetors a little, port the and roll the chain case, and open up that rotary valve, maybe get a light weight jack shaft also. and one of the most important things is clutch work. you need to get that power to the ground.

Save your money and buy a 670. You'll be happier in the long run. Just my opinion.

If you save your money for a 670 you will want to mod that too! :D
