In a few years I want to buy a new machine but keep my mach as a racer.

I will build the engine from the ground up. *

What do i need to buy or do to build a winner. *I dont want it for trail riding so go all out. *I have my own ideas but would like to hear yours. *All I want is HP.

03 ZR900 with v-force reeds, power breather, 1010 pipes
* * = 172 HP @ 7700rpm with 118 ft pounds of torque and * * wieghs in at 500lbs. *thats an excellent power to wieght ratio and the engine is only spining 7700 rpm witch makes for very good clutch efficiency unlike other sleds that rev in the 8000-9000rpm area....

Just an example of how belt speeds rob efficiency.....

* * section 5 page 31 in the Ski-doo racing hand book

* Crankshaft Hp * Engine RPM * Clutch Efficiency *HP to Track
* * *115 * * * * * * * * 7800 * * * * * * * 84.8% * * * * * * *97.5
* * *115 * * * * * * * * 8000 * * * * * * * 83.9% * * * * * * *96.5
* * *115 * * * * * * * * 8200 * * * * * * * 83.1% * * * * * * *95.6
* * *115 * * * * * * * * 8400 * * * * * * * 82.3% * * * * * * *94.6
* * *115 * * * * * * * * 8600 * * * * * * * 81.4% * * * * * * *93.6
* * *115 * * * * * * * * 8800 * * * * * * * 80.6% * * * * * * *92.7
* * *115 * * * * * * * * 9000 * * * * * * * 79.8% * * * * * * *91.8
* * *115 * * * * * * * * 9200 * * * * * * * 79.0% * * * * * * *90.0
* * *115 * * * * * * * * 9400 * * * * * * * 78.1% * * * * * * *89.8
* * *115 * * * * * * * * 9600 * * * * * * * 77.3% * * * * * * *88.9
* * *115 * * * * * * * * 9800 * * * * * * * 76.4% * * * * * * *87.9
* * *115 * * * * * * * * 10000 * * * * * * *75.6% * * * * * * 86.9

The more hp you can make at a lower rpm the better and the faster you will be.

Machzzzz1, the first thing is to find a good custom engine shop to work with, and what doo you want to build, a radar runner?, drag race sled? then what class doo you want to run in?
Check out Bondi Engine's in Aurora Ontario, he's not to far from you, and this guy builds from mild to wild. How about a 1100cc 4cly for your MachZ?? He is just finishing a 4cy now.That should fill your H.P need's.

contact Gregg at Jaws perf. 613-692-1552 he has the best pipes avail. for the 3 cyl ski-doos. I have built many 779/809 motors 180 hp is not out of the question w/ stock displacement. The last one I built was a 1025 crank shop based motor on a 779 case. Final displacement came out at 1047cc, Greg custom made a set of pipes for my package that made much better power than the crank shop pipes. I have had many bad experiences with crank shop pipes. The ones on my 900 mxz had to be modifyed extensively to function well. Gregg was too busy to build a custom set for it this fall. The mach pipes are usually on the shelf ready to ship.

THanks for the replies.

But I think i will buy the pipes last. *I dont want to do this this year. *I will trail ride my almost stock mach z for a year or two more and then buy a new sled. *Then i will take the engine out of the mach and do everything at once. *

I want to keep the bombardier block and head but machining it is an option.

So what do i have to do to the engine and clutch to make this a winner? *What do i need to buy? And then last i will look at pipes. *Thanks.

I can build the engine no problem. *I can machine it no problem. *THats what i used to do as a living (Make engines) but im still a little gray on clutching. *I hear people saying its better stock and that you cant improve. *And then i hear people saying that clutching is the best thing ever.

Please help thanks.

Well, I am not an expert (yet) but this is what I think. *You should bore it out and install larger pistons, put in an aerocharger, and jet is low. *That's what I have so far for ya. *I could talk to some racers from down here and see what they have for their mach z's or what would be a good setup for a mach z.
