I was reading on another site that a snowmobiler spotted a new yamaha at a crossroads in upper up. he said it looked smaller than a rx-1 and had a new skid under it also had new a arm front end. rumor is it is a 850 cc. anyone else hear anything? :ohmy:

Mighty, I for one love the new four strokes all of them, but too say 2 strokes are history is a bit premature yet. I can see us all on them one day, that is for sher as it will prolly be a EPA law, but as we sit right now the SDI is more enviromentally friendly than the rx1. I am not picking an argument at all. I just want to see the facts. LOL

I didn't mean for the entire industry yet, just Yamaha. I think the viper may yet remain for 05, not sure cause quite frankly I didn't ask.

That does seem to be the way they are going Mighty as they seem to be concentrating very little on there 2 strokers now. When the Rx has an EFI system, it will be even better.

viperman,,,was this sled in question being driven by an owner,,,,, or was it not painted up and all,,,,,I passes a new looking sled up in the UP 2 years ago but they didnt stop to talk,,,, they stopped at the stop sign we were at and then off they rode,,,,we sat and looked at each other not knowing what we had just saw,,,,, it was the firecat, but it was a flat black color,,,,, we wasnt even sure at that time which company it belonged to,,,,,

i was going to ask if you had seen any type of name on it such as yamaha or polaris??...if you look as the spy pic of the new polaris it would look like an rx1 for sure

this guy said they came up on it at a cross road. he looked down at the skid an it looked like a pro action one shock but highly modified. the hood was flat black with some numbers on it.the test riders didnt stick around long enough to make out what they said. sounds like the rs rage tha tis on the yamaha site. w00t

Do you guys really think that Yammie is out of the 2-stroke game all together?? I'm definitely a believer in the four-stroke snowmobile, I think the RX-1 is a fine trail machine but if they want to get back in the snow-cross game, will a 4-stroke really do the job?? Or do you think thet they'll just on pretending that the ASRA/CSRA doesn't exist?? I know that their 4-strokes are doing very well in the moto-cross arena, but the dynamics in a dirt bike VS a snowmobile are quite different.

I'd love to see Yamaha develop a new light-weight chassis and import some of their DI technology from their outboard line to create a competitive 440 racer. And while their at it, offer a 'trail' version for the everyday Joe to ride.

After all, the CSRA is in town this weekend, who am I going to cheer for??

The most popular guess is 850 cc 4 stroke with about 120 HP.

I was talking to a dealer today he thinks its a 750 cc out of there road bike. It will have about 130 hp but alot lighter than the rx 1. might be qwiker than the rx 1. :thumbsup:
