we have a 380f mxz 2002 that has the worst case of darting of any sled I have ridden.to this point I have put the limiter strap 1 hole shorter and switched out the small steel skis with flex skis with 4" carbides still is terrible the normal rider of this sled weighs 180 dressed.

Removing ski pressure should help to minimize darting. That means making the limiter strap longer, not shorter. Also, decreasing spring pressure on the front end, making it softer should help. Try one thing at a time.

thank you for your reply I will go back to stock on the limiter strap and test it and then lengthen 1 more if needed.I never touch a limiter strap on the older sled cause I figured with 5" of travel it didn't matter.

you should check the ski toe in/out. doo says use a bungi cord between the ski tips to remove steering play. then measure between the inside ski edges at the rear of the skis, and at the forward straight edge of the skis. the forward measurement(nearest ski loops) should be about 3/4 inch greater than the rear measurement. you never want the forward measurement to be less. i find too little ski pressure causes vague steering and understeering/plowing through turns. you should be able to keep the ski pressure AND eliminate darting.

I noticed saturday when I loaded it on the trail it didn't seem to have any toe out compared to my mxz 700 maybe 1/4 inche max on this little fan.will get it on the floor and set it at 3/4 adjust limiter strap back to stock and test it next weekend.I have read on this board the precision ski are to be set at zero toe out? mine is set at about 3/4 should I leave it or reset, it handles great and I'm not looking for less resistence as far as speed.
Install a pair of PCS strips on the skis.

As Zog mentioned...put PCS strips on the skis!
Leave the limiter strap one notch tighter, and you'll have a great steering and handling sled.
1/4" toe out should be enough.
BTW, make sure you get genuine Bombardier strips -- the others are junk.

What are PCS strips?
They are a plastic strip installed on the front of the carbide. They flatten the snow, giving the carbide a "fresh path" rather than following previous carbide tracks. They should have them at your dealer.
