I had the Mach-z out on Friday ... and I got WAXED by a 800 REV 4X's in a row . This was a 1 mile race . Oh ya the Mach-z is a 96 780 cc . I'm thinking this is not right ! I was topping out at 100mph at 8200 RPM . The end of last year I was topping out at 120mph or so . So saturday I took the raves off and all was good , took the carbs off to clean them ... and they where good to go , but I did find that one of the synch screws was lose and the Mag side carb was way off . then I turned my clickers up to #4 from #3 . So I fixed it and on Sunday gaver her another try . Still just a tick over 100mph at 8500 rpm . So on the way back at 100 mph I hit the kill switch with my hand still holding the flipper to that bar , I pulled the plugs and they look oily ???? the jetting is stock 380 370 380 , other then that the sled is running fine , and it's not burning any more oil then normal .... So what should I do now ???

8500 is too high with stock pipes. Shoot for 8300 on the tach. Take both clutches apart and clean and replace any worn items. Also check clutch alignment. I had a carb screw come loose on the shaft and it wasn't opening all the way with the other two. That caused that cylinder to drag down and run rich. Make sure your slides are all coming up together.

Even if your sled was running 100%,if you were running against an 800H.O I don't think you would beat it anyways.Look at the power to weight ratio along with the newer technology.

Well 800X it was a HO and the guy on it was maybe 120LBS ... my 13 yr old kid was bigger then this guy . But realy I thought that I would be able to top end this guy ... it was a mile long race . So what do you guys think about the oily spark plugs ? . Last year this sled would do 185KMPH and still be pulling ... now it's dead at 160kmph . About the clutching .... hahaha ..... I have NO IDEA what to do with a Ski-doo clutch , but come to think about it ... I did touch the clutches and they where hot .... The only 3 things on the sled that where not there last year are the front carbites , the drive belt .... cost me 110 bucks .... and 15 lbs that I put on ...

If you want to check your plugs after a high speed run you must hit the kill and release the loud handle. By holding it to the bar your bringing in more fuel and oil which you're not allowing to be burnt because the ignition is off.

If your sled is that much slower this year, then yes you have a problem. First your RPM is too high so that may be killing your top end. If you can get it down to 8200rpm range it might pick up some. Also, the loss you mention is huge. I would really have someone competant figure out what is wrong. It is not your oil. Regardless of what the REV guys say, you should easily top end an 800 HO if your sled is running right. The 800 twin does not have the power yet....but the new 1000 twin will. Might be time to order a new sled next year!

being a 96, when was the last time you changed the rings, do a compression check when it is warmerd up, and throttle full open, 5 or 6 pulls till you see the compression needle top out.If last year you hit higher speeds and this year you did not,how did you store it away for the summer.

In all seriousness....what was the weather like? Your sled will run alot stronger when it is colder outside. You mentioned that your clutches are hot when you touch them....is there any belt residue on the clutch faces?
