Just got back from a beautiful weekend in Paradise, Mi where we put on 519 miles. Just thought I would share my impressions of my REV.
It took me a real half day to get really comfortable with it. The ride is fantastic. The front end is planted real well and inspires a lot of confidence. It is not at all tippy. I have a yellow XPS II version and man does it get dirty from clutch and brake dust. It will take some effort to keep it looking good.
The gas mileage is the best I have ever had in a SkiDoo other than my 85 Formula MX. I was getting close to 13 mpg. Consistently taking $1-$2 less than fellow riders. A little patience is required while fueling though. Can that white sleeve in the filler neck be removed? What does it do? What won't it do if I remove it?
It was at or below zero F the whole time we rode and I did NOT experience any gauge fogging.
All in all, I was extremely happy with the sled. I can honestly say that it is the best Ski-Doo I have ever owned, bar none.

How does the short shield work when it's cold? Does it give enough protection?
Glad you like your new ride.

I didn't have a problem with it. I thought if offered better protection than my buddies F7. When I rode his sled, I could feel my helmet buffet around a lot more than on the REV. It was really cold the whole time we rode so everybody had to deal with it. The heated grips worked really good in conjunction with the hand guards. They got too hot on high. I had to keep switching back and forth.
All in all, the windshield didn't bother me.

If you point the spout towards the rear of the sled on a somewhat horizontal level your fueling problems will go away. You can then 'click it & forget it' so to speak.
The yellow looks good when it's clean but keeping it that way is difficult, that's why I bought the black.
How'd you make out against your buddies F7?

I also have an 04 800 REV and love it.

04 800X:
He gets me in the middle because my sled has to drag me along for the ride. Let's just say I have a few more pounds to carry than he does. Pretty close though. Both sleds were brand new and absolutely bone stock with the exception of studding. I'm very happy with my sled. A few clutching mods and it should help.

Hey r-lover, congrats on the ownership of doo's inovative equipment. I also have the 800 X - impressive! The ride is like no other. I can travel over moguls in the trail much faster than I could on my zx chassis. I was out for a ride with a friend that owns a yammi and it was evident that the viper started getting loose over the bumpy stuff. The rev flatens out the trail and makes you feel so much more in control. It honestly makes me a better rider. Wife now says she likes seeing me take jumps over banks or other plowed mounds. Landings are soft and effortless. Before (zx) she would always worry that I would get hurt doing that stuff. I thought that the 800 was gonna be a gas hog - I am gladly mistaken. My first fill up showed 13.8 mpg; my second tank calculated 15.3 mpg! No my math is not wrong. The one thing that I am not happy about is the oil consumption. I used about 2.5 quarts of oil per 10 gallons of gas. My wife's 600 DLX used less than 1 quart covering the same distance and using half-gallon more gas. Should I adjust the oil cable or should I let the dealer handle it?

I was not thrilled about the oil consumption with my REV either. I put in about 1 and 3/4 bottles of XPS II for every 200 miles. It sounds like you are using about 2 and 1/2 bottles per 150 miles. I would have the dealer look into that. That's way more than I am using.
