On 670's you have to split the case to properly install a crank seal as they have a raised lip that fits in a receiver groove, But if this was the same on the 800's then how did my seal slide out???
I heard it was a problem on the 03's as the H.O. fixed this.
I have 200 miles on the sled and was just checking things out under the hood and found oil spray around clutches, got to looking and I could see the seal touching the back side of the clutch-Not 100% out yet.
Just wondering if I did any damage to the internals? pistons, rings, lean condition.
The sled still runs ok.
At the dealer now- so I'll find out tommorrow.

You have to split it to properly install the seal.

This is the information I received from Thumbdoctor when I asked him about it.

"That PTO seal that popped of has been replaced with P/N# 420 931 280. Most
dealers don't stock them. Call your dealer first and if he doesn't have one,
he can break a new 800 gasket set (dated later than Oct '03) and pilfer the
new type seal from there. The new one is stiffer, has a slightly larger O/D
and comes packed with Isoflex."

I asked my dealer to be sure (you never know) that he was aware of the change.

Dick...Are you a dealer here in Michigan?

I think the new seal has a larger rib and the case has to be split to put it on correctly.
