My speedometer and odometer stopped working? All the lighted guages still work correctly though. My tachometer still works too. I checked all the connections and they seem to be fine. Has anyone had this happen or know how to fix it. It is a 2000 ZR500. Please help me out

Sounds like a driveshaft bearing. There have been a few post not to long ago about this. Do a quick search and should be able to get it fixed.

The cable for your speedo goes into a little gearbox below the driven clutch. Take the three nuts off and you can remove the cover. There is a little square shaft about 3/4 inch long or so that drives the gearbox off of the driven shaft that turns the track. This piece breaks or twists off. The guy who said it was a bearing is probably right. When that bearing gets loose the speedo breaks. BE sure to check that out, cuz it will ruin your day and probably a couple of weeks if you burn up that bearing. ( I did this myself. Not fun to wait for driveshafts etc to be prepared so you can wrench on your sled instead of riding it. )

pull it into a warm garage,,,, pull your driven clutch,,,, then pull your speedo unit just behind under the jackshaft,,,, your drive key that is broken is in there,,,, you need to check hard for a bad bearing, usually when that goes, your bearing is gone,,, if you have to change it,, ,CHANGE THEM BOTH!!!!,,,,
