What has happened to the winter sport of drag racing? There used to be races you could attend each weekend if you wished. Now we struggle to find 2 or 3 races to attend. Never mind the sanctioned races which are way down as well, but the local snowmobile carnival races. Every club used to run them. I don't think it is insurance cause it is still readily availble and run around $800 for the day.
Sure am glad I get to use my race "snow"mobile all summer on the asphalt.

so true....there is one in ottawa on the 1st of feb for cheo call 613 543-3114 and ask for Barb, any news or dates on the ones in trenton, tweed and madoc?

I hear that they trying to get one in eganville and cobden (20 min from pembroke) some time this winter, will let you know in a week or so going to call the guy back.

The guy i was talking also said that this might be the last year for the ovals in eganville, if so they might take down the track and run grass drags in the summer and ice drags in the winter but just a rumor right now.

It would be too bad if they stopped holding the oval races. I haven't been able to make it the last 3 or 4 years due to scheduling conflicts w/ other races or sled trips. We'd drive 2 hours from Apsley to go for the day. Back in the 80s we'd rent 3 rooms for the gang that used to go up.

If they were to hold drag races I doubt I'd go. Now sno x would be a different story. Maybe they should think of that instead for their winter event.
