w00t Watch it be a HPDI 600 and 900 twin 2strokes with catalitic converters in RX-1 like body and a weight of 440-455lbs :hallo1:

Would that freak out a lot of people if Yamaha blindsided us with that.

They do have HPDI and catilitic converter tech on their 2 S outboards already :sly:

From what I was told this weekend Yamaha is getting back into the game. This all came from a Yamaha rep. Expect to see the majority of the sleds in the line up having a-arms. The RX 1 which Yamaha claims is there top high performace sled will be way down the list for 05. Figure about 4th on the list of high performance machines. The big gun will be a triple 2 stroke. Yes all you triple fans new life will be breathed into this sector with an 800 cc fuel injected triple. No word on h.p. but it will be fast. All new chassis. Expect to see the rider forward sno-cross type chassis for 05 as well. No word on how many cylinders but it will be an 850cc 4 stroke. Cant remember the name for the life of me. Started with a V. Possibly Vector but chances are I am wrong. This could all be bull but word is Yamaha is serious about moving up the ladder as far as there position in the big 4 goes. Guess will just have to wait a bit yet to know for sure.

What's this rep smoking, 2-strokes are history.

Ya ok. I forgot the 4 stroke is the be all to end all. It will solve all the worlds problems. I guess someone forgot to tell the engineers that a 2 stroke can run as clean or cleaner than a 4 stroke while being lighter.

I didn't imply that a 4-stroke is better (event if I do think so) I'm simply saying that Yamaha has given up on them for snowmobiles. You may see a mountain viper in 05 but that's it.

If all that is true about the new Yammies I might be looking to switch brands!!

i hear ya. with all these rumors we'll be seeing sizes ranging from 600 to 1350. the 600, 600 turbo, 700, 750, 800, 850, 1350.

Who knows what to believe??

By the sounds of it. Polaris and Yamaha both will have every sled in their fleet completely redesigned! There won't be one thats the same as last year!

Rob,

I really hope these rumours you've heard are true. I've heard some other guys saying similar things. I sure hope the 'big news' for '05 doesn't turn out to be the RX-Venture 2-up!!!! That would be a real let-down!

I'm also skeptical about the 2-stroke triple rumour, but with Yamaha's investment into DI on their ourboards, anything's possible. I'd love to see it myself. I definitely see a big future in four stroke snowmobiles, but with direct injection, those 2-strokes might be around for a while yet, and for the converted - that's not a bad thing. We can all peacefully co-exist!

My guess is... when the RX1 was introduced, it was during the first week of Feb./02. That's next week, and I bet they do the same thing again

The way I look at it is Yammy positioned themselves at the forefront of 4 stroke sleds with the introduction of the RX 1. They proved that they have the tech to make a 4 stroke work as a performance motor for snowmobiles. I can't recall any of the big four releasing a statement saying they are going to only focus on 4 stroke development and screw the 2 stroke. If someone has a copy of a statement like this I'd like to see it. With that being said why would Yamaha not position themselves at or near the forefront of 2 stroke development as well. They have the tech already as evident in there outboards. With the 2006 emission standards fast approaching one would think it would be best to release a emission compliant motor in advance and work any bugs out if needed. Just my $.02

my local dealer told me there will be no two strokes in 05. There will be a replacement for the viper a new trail sled witha 4 stroke motor, new rear skid on all sleds and a two up version of the Warrior/rx1

If yamy doesn't have any 2-strokes in 05 they'll be losing a bunch of customers.

I don't think you realize how many they gained because of the 4-stroke. Myself and 4 other guys I know came from other brands because of it. Most guys I talk to on the trails seem to have come from other brands also.

Excuse my ignorance for just getting into snowmobiling, but I can't help but notice how much sled motors look like jet-ski motors ( or vice-versa ). And look what sea-doo has done with the 4-stroke in that area. GTX-sc and the new RXP. 215 supercharged horsepower from the factory!! I see the future of snowmobiles going in that direction. (and you don't have to worry about ingesting any water.lol ) My bet Yamaha is going to be the first to make serious reliable horsepower. Hang-on!!!

I'll be one of them, but i have faith. I think yamaha has the tech. to make both the 2 and 4 stroke work :D

i agree they have the tech, everyone knows that, but will they make use of it
how about the snoscoot and snosport, those things were awsome, never rode one but they are bigger and faster than the stock 120's and would bridge the gap to full size sleds, those things bring big bucks on auctions, almost as much as they were brand new I bet
someone has to have a modified snosport around somewhere, i want to see it
put a yz 125 engine in it, and some decent shocks, sweet

I sure hope they make a rider-forward sled like the REV. The triple 4-stroke 850cc that I've heard mentioned would be great. I have a REV now, but rode Yamaha first. I love the ride of the REV but do miss the fit & finish of Yamaha and the known reliability. I see more and more REV's on the trail all the time. The next manufacturer who offers something similar to the REV will be glad they did.

rob7374, I agree with you totally and hope your right also. If Yamaha listens to guys like the 'Allmighty' they won,t be in the sled business much longer.
