I was going to install a Holeshot skid plate on my 96 ZR580 the other night.

I noticed on the front top of the belly pan, there are a few rectangular holes. The skid plate covers these when put on. Do they need to be open? Or can I cover them with the skid plate?

Paul,

I don't have a picture here at the office, but here's a diagram of the bellypan. Hopefully that will give you an idea. I'll try to take a pic tonight and post it if that will help.

Looks to me like they could be for air intake?

i would set the bellypan on the sled and mark the holes then cut them out.

Those are the same holes that let water in during puddle jumps. Unless you are riding in deep powder and really working the machine they are not essential.

cover them up. if it creats a problem you can always cut them out with a dremil tool from the inside no prob. but I know a few guys that just covered them up. LIke Perm said. they let water in and that's bad news..LOL
