Just wondering if anybody has any tips on our adventure around Algonquin park. We are starting out from Port Perry and riding up through Bancroft, pembrook, North bay, then down through Dorset and home again. How long will this take. I know the snow conditions are not that great, any reports from around the areas above. Where should we stay. We travel pretty quick so we are hoping to complete in 3 days, 2 nights.

We finally got snow here in the Haliburton area. We're considering a RAP this weekend. Is there any word on trail conditions on the north side of the Park. It sounds like Pembroke didn't get the same snow that most of southern Ontario just got. Any feedback on Pemboke, Mattawa, North Bay, Huntsville conditions would be appreciated.

Hey Ken- long time no see!! How have you been? Lodge still busy this time of year? I am going to join again this Spring.Hey give Ravine Rat a PM here and he can tell you some trail info.He and I and another friend are leaving this Sunday to do a loop tour for 5 days.Heading out of Coldwater and going to Huntsville for the nite. Then to North Bay for another nite. Then on to Temagami and over to Sportsmans Lodge in Sudbury for the nite. Then back down to Parry Sound for the last nite and then back to Coldwater. Have a good time on your trip. Pete/NY

Just came down through the North Bay / Huntsville area on Saturday the 24th. The trail runs parallel to Highway 11 in many areas. It's dooable but very thin snow base. Grassy patches in many spots. Lots of snow just north of North Bay, before Temagami. Right now the northern half of the RAP tour would be good riding and the southern half would be just adequate. Some fresh snow this week and every part of the loop would be great riding, I think. If possible wait a couple more weeks for this big trip, and everything should be in pristine condition.

To Luvtoridefast

We are doing the RAP tour starting FEB 8/04.
Most of the guys I ride with are from Port as well.
We will probably start from Norland or Minden. It is an easy run from there to Best Western in Pembroke. Pembroke to Best Western in North Bay is a fairly easy run as well. North Bay back to Haliburton is tough to do in one day. We will probably do that in 2 days and take it easy. Probably stopping at Pickeral Lake Lodge. Great spot, great food.

I'm not sure if gas is available in Madawaska or not. It's 103 miles from Whitney to Petawawa. Petawawa to Mattawa is 129 miles. Before you leave Deep River for Mattawa, top up there. The gas station in Deux Rivieres is of dubious quality. It's name brand gas in Mattawa.

The Two Rivers Motel in Mattawa is nice, has a restaurant attached & the guy that ran it when we stayed there was involved w/ the local club.
