: Which Sled Should I Get For The Wife?
I was just wondering. I finally got permission to get sleds I already know what I am getting (saber6efi) but she is undecided and told me to pick now I am confused. Oh yeah one more thing should I wait till snow check time or do something else??? :dazed:  G
paul yarek 01-26-2004, 02:14 PM don't let her ride a REV because this was Polaris country until the women tried a REV and now there are bumble bee's everywhere.
snokid 600 01-26-2004, 02:43 PM The first question I have is this going to be here first sled? If so I would go with a 500ss REV or maybe a 600. Now if she has some experience then she can go with a bigger cc sled. The reason I say rev because it has one of the best rides out there and I'm sure that she would like something comfortable. Engine wise the 500ss has plenty of speed and takeoff for someones first sled as well as their second or third. I see your from clio I live in Swartz Creek.

Hey snokid,
Yup I lived in Clio till november then I moved out to flushing township.
My wife has more experience on quads than on sleds but she rode my cousins 97 xc 440 a few times. And she seems to be quite proficient. I have took her to all the local dealers Nordride on Mt.Morris rd,Greatlake powersports and to Shiawasee Motorsports. She sat on all of them looked at all of them and she decided that she liked polaris better?? I tried to get her to like the Rev just because of the stuff I read about it on this site but she did not like them. Women go figure . She also liked the Zr900efi but with insurance and the already high price we don't think it is a good idea. But my concern is the pro x to stiff compared to the Xc.? What do you guys think about that? :dazed:  G
jtkennedy9 01-26-2004, 04:53 PM I'd probably lean toward the XC 600 over the Pro-X. I love the Pro-X's, but they are a little stiffer than the XC's.
SD_Sledhead 01-26-2004, 05:01 PM If the Polaris has PERK then get that! Its hard telling where woman will end up sometimes and it gets old having to drag their sled around because they park it like a car! :D
WKinneIII 01-26-2004, 05:05 PM I said Pro X becuase it asked which I would get, if yer wife is like most women riders, not all, she likes a little more comfort so i'd get her the xc. By the way yer gettin a Cat and yer wifes gettin a Poo i guess it's obvious who has the brains of that operation, lol w00t . Just messin Cat guys don't bite my head off. My Girlfriend rode her dads RX1 and seemed to enjoy that, it was also the only way we could get her to keep up with us on the Ultra's lol. Anyhow good luck man be careful havin a cat and a polaris in the same garage together can be pretty risky. :p

BGTRK19472 01-26-2004, 05:12 PM I like the switchback choice for the sinple reason she will not get stuck in the deaper snow as easily and the long tracks ride nice to!!! Now if you would have put a sabercat 600 ext in the mix that would have been my choice over the Poo!!!
The only cat she liked was the zr:( Doen't like saber kittys. Too bad she can't ride mine when she doesn't like hers anymore
snokid 600 01-26-2004, 05:25 PM Yeah Nord Ride is where I do all of my business. Just bought a new sled from there: 2005 Limited Edition Rev Renegade 600HO SDI. Pretty good with the Owner, thats a family run dealer. Well what ever you get have fun and be safe.

03ProX 01-26-2004, 06:24 PM I would go with the xc if she wants a polaris. I had my ProX on the trails for the first time this weekend and found it to be stiff. The trails were horrible down here and my back is paying for it today!
FeelTheThunder 01-26-2004, 07:38 PM If she dosent like the new Cat's, neither do I, then get her a used ZR from at least 99 or up with the aluminium front bulkhead. I think the zr9 is a little much for a woman but hey you never know!
Every woman that rides my wifes 99 zr just loves it, so easy to control and light. :D :D
Skidoo_800 01-26-2004, 08:02 PM I think u should get ur wife a 500xc..those things are beautful with the VES..my cousins wife has one she got it brand new last year/same time my cousin got his 600xc..and her 500 is amazing..its not too much power but its enough to kill some trails when she puts the throttle down lol..
MXZOOoom 01-26-2004, 08:23 PM Like Paul said The Ladies love the REV, and if she loves her ride it's brownie points for you.
Well it is settled then we're going over to Nelson's Speedshop Next Saturday and buying sleds She is getting a XC600sp in black, and I am getting a saber6 efi in red and black. With covers, permits and registation 13200.00 out the door. Not to bad I think? But I can't wait to ride again w00t w00t G :dazed:
Sondy 01-31-2004, 09:27 AM Go with a 500 or 600 Rev. They will handle much better.
EDGEXFAN 01-31-2004, 10:55 AM If you go by what she likes as far as a nice looking sled you'll probably be dissapointed when you ride it. The key for my wife was comfort, stay away from the pro-x and high performance sleds. The suspensions are to stiff for her riding needs. Big displacement sleds are also a waist, she doesn't need 900cc's, you'll just be changing plugs all the time. If it were me i'd look into a 500xc w/ perc reverse. That sled has way more power than she'll probably ever use. The rev's are nice and have a great ride, but don't offer very good wind protection and if she's anything like my wife she'll want all of the warmth she can get. Just my 2 cents
Snowbody 01-31-2004, 10:57 AM I got an 02 xc800 for me and 500 for wife.Sometimes we switch sleds and she likes mine way better.I think its the wide tourqe band that makes it easier to drive at all speeds. She has very little experience snowmobiling and high cc still isn't a problem. You can still drive slow no matter what size it is. Also she says she wishes she had reverse and mirros.

Both great sleds, but it's obvious your wife has better taste than you.
