if it still has all the carb safety switches...try disconnecting them..then check the throttle switches..mine went and caused those problems.

As soon as I got my 95 ZRT600 in 97, I removed the carb switches and the magnets in the slides. In the winter of 99-00 I chopped the wires to the throttle lever. I think there are 2 switches in there..I can't remember..one you can see when the throttle is opened and the other behind the pin. I snipped all the wires going up there and figured out how to connect them(if they needed connecting) to make the sled run...NO MORE MISS WHEN FLIPPING THE LEVER!!!
disclaimer!! remember that now you have no saftey switches if the throttle sticks open..hit that damn kill switch!!

the carb switches are disconnected already anymore ideas?
There is still at least one switch in the handlebar behind the fun flipper. If those plastic bushings are worn that my be your problem.
Or did you already do the bypass plug?

ya unplug the wires comin from the kill switch in the handle bars, use the by-pass or make one up, very easy to do, also check both your key switch and your tether if its so equipped, make sure you have good grounds also, would'nt hurt to make up another ground strap and attach it to the chassis and the other end to were it grounds the engine, from cdi and stator, how about your mid range carb set up??, what position your needles at??, alota things to look at, when ya have the mods you got on your sled,

i disconnected the, 3 wire plug comin from the kill switch, local dealer said just unplug it no jumper. i heard the miss once but never again, my question is with the mods on my sled, it idles at 4000 until you blip choke to calm it down, we adjusted the air jet (its at about 1/2 turn out now) to make it richer and it got a little better, should i put bigger pilots (45) in so it idles and maybe a little richer on bottom end.

My 97 zrt 600 would idle high for about 20 seconds than come down.I went up in pilot jet and now it idles right down when I let of the throttle.

i solved this problem last year it turned out to be the water pump seal was leaking and it was eating a lil bit of coolant. now i still have the problem where it idles high and you have to blip the choke to calm it down and then it goes back up again, i already have the larger pilots in 45's any ideas im running 400 mains and 45 pilots. should i maybe go one richer on the needle jet?
thanks Bill

the high idle is a lean idle enrichment ,fatten that screw up a little and it will be fine. M
