Hello all

Haven't posted in some time. Nice to see an area just for GPS. Just wanted to share my observations between the two as I am just learning and enjoying using them.

Got the Etrex last year and was disappointed that it would not receive a signal unless out in the open. Eliminated marking tracks as I liked to keep it in my pocket, so I only used it to determine bearings and my whereabouts at stops.

I have recently obtained the Sportrak Map and really like it. It can go right in my pocket and record my entire track. It also tracks the sat. much quicker at turn on as well. I have enjoyed marking tracks so much, I am not going to mount it to the dash so I don't keep having to stop when I want to follow an unknown track.

Looking forward to talking GPS with you.

I cannot agree more! The Sportrak simply worked better and also has a very nice power hookup feature through the mounting bracket. HOWEVER, the Sportrak will only allow ONE track and will not allow custom GPSMapper maps so basically it is useless for my purpose (snowmobiling).
