Gaah, my clutch took a turn for the worst :(
http://www.mvc.on.ca/img/clutch.jpg

The inner sleave is busted apart, both inside surfaces are pitted and melted past salvage. The parts that disinitgrated of the sleaves are deposited all over the pan.
It was tuff to get it to move this morning, I figured it was a stiff skidframe and deep powder. It ran pretty good on the roads.

I am afraid to drive it home like this, don't want to damage the crank.
What to doo? I had the cluch serviced last winter. It was reinstalled on my new motor by Skidoo.

Just when the winter snow is here, every year its the same :cussing:
a new clutch at $1000 CND, my better half thinks its over for the season.
Man if I could swear :cussing: :cussing:

What a mess!

Is there anywhere around there that you can get a used clutch?

Good luck.

alscool: Had the same thing several years ago, it was caused by snow dust on clutch face. I went in to 3 feet of powder and it started to bog down, I grapped a hand full and it reved up followed by a big bang, lifted the hood and the clutch inner was in hundreds of pieces. the outer had melted spots where it slippped and heated up to the melting point. I bought a used clutch for $200 (TRA) so good luck I know how you feel. Dino

Al You can find a used clutch , all is not lost. But I would really wonder what caused it? IF you are going to get a new primary make sure you rebuild and clean your secondary as the buttons maybe worn badly causing you belt to not shift proper and stick and burn in one spot.

Yup, snow can do that! Apparently, snow got in the cab all over my clutch, during the storm. I come along, warm it up but not enough to melt and dry the cluches and BANG, exploded all over.

But............ alls well that ends well.
I traded my older damaged motor for a new set of clutch sleaves and arms and bearings and used my sping and and this lad fixed it within an hour. No money exchanged.

Skidoo wanted $1700 for a TRA clutch new. $700 for housing!!
