: What Was Your First Sled?
drifter2004 01-30-2004, 02:06 PM What was everyones first sled that got them hooked on the sport. Mine was a 1972 Yamaha 338. It never really went over the snow like a snowmobile should, it sort of just plowed through it. I have to say that I really hated that sled but it got me hooked on sledding. My second was a 1976 Sno Jet SST 440. Now that sled would fly across the snow, I loved it. Anyway what did everyone else get started on and maybe attach pictures if you got them?
MikeD 01-30-2004, 02:11 PM '72 Nordic 399, sorry no pics.
doonut 01-30-2004, 02:15 PM 1969 Moto Ski Capri . Fugly orange with a blue seat and a fully exposed nasty fuel spitting fire ball coughing miserable to start 300 cc 9 hp single.

Hey SD, I have one of those in my shed.
My first ride was on my cousin's early 70's Sno-Jet. The first sled I owned was a '74 Ski_Roule RTX w/ 292 Sachs. I could never get that thing to run right so I sold it and bought a '79 JD Spitfire. That thing was a blast!
Pacer99 01-30-2004, 03:14 PM My sled (http://www.wintler.com/perspag/sled03.jpg)20
Wolfman 01-30-2004, 03:35 PM I still have it, well what's left of it anyway. 1980 John Deere Sportfire. I wish I would have known better when I left it in storage after moving to Texas. It ran fine when I left Colorado, but the engine is now a siezed up chunk of metal. :( All attempts to break it loose have failed miserably. It'll be cheaper to dump it and buy another than to fix it.
Yes, I am looking..............

Hey SD, I have one of those in my shed.
Thats awesome jdsmi, I wish I still had my old one. But I think we sold it for $25. Or what was left of it anyways! Most of it was riveted back together from the many crashes and rolls me and my brothers had on it.

The racing clutch came off our dads 81 el'tigre 6000 with a 530 engine, twin pipes and gutted can, what a screamer it was.
