Hi,

I am a new member on this forum and new to the skidoo sports.

I bought a used 1988 ski-doo and it runs great, starts from the first couple pulls,
I rode it for about 1 month and now all the sudden it decided it not to move, it runs but when you give it gas, it won't pass the 4K rpm and it barely moves.
I looked at the clutch assembly and I could see when I apply gas it expands and the it turns but the belt will move very slowly much slower than the clutch pully.

I replaced the belt, and I got the same results.

I removed the belt and I tried to turn the drive belt shaft and the skidoo moved very slowly ( turning it by hand).
I lifted the skidoo off the ground and I connected the belt, the skidoo revs very high like normal 8K rpm and the drive belt turns very nice and very quick. but when the skidoo is down on the ground It won't rev pass the 4K rpm.

I disconnected the exhaust and it didn't get any better, I replaced the spark plugs as well and removed the air filter.
I also did a leak down test on the engine and it checks out as good as new.

I am puzzled.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you,

Rafi

Sounds like your clutching is off, worn out....could be any number of worn parts....you say the clutch expands, i assume this is your driven clutch? how about the drive clutch (one attached to the engine) what does it do when you apply the throttle....

Hi,

Well the clutch assembly that is attached to the engine expands, as well as the one that is attached to the drive shaft that allows the drive belt also expands.
I removed the belt and applied some gas, It revs very nice, and the clutch assembly on the engine side expands until the bottom of it hits the engine side.

Thanks,
