I have a line on a set of twin pipes coated and in good shape for my zr800. I was wondering if anyone had any opinions one way or the other. I trail ride and lake so I need the best of both worlds, and I'm getting a good deal on them. :hallo1:

Punk, are you a tuner? Or have excess to someone that knows how to set these things up. I'm not suggesting that you don't know , but when you add pipes they tend to tighten up your powerband which in turn make's the sled much more fussy in terms temp/alt changes. SLP has a good rep and I'm sure that there products work. but changes are you will loose the gas/oil and go. Plus you will have to clutch the sled to run at the higher rpm's those pipes will pull. Good-luck with your choice.....

I'm with the 3 eyed guy on this one, unless you like to tune em and are willing to give up low end torque and fuel mileage, stay with the stock stuff and concentrate on your clutching / jetting.

I do all my own tuning and clutch work, so I don't have a problem in that area. I know the pipes have to be at around 8000 rpm's thats easyto remedy, but Slp states that the pipes still make good torque down low and the midrange. the reason I'm thinking about twins is that my bro has a speedwerx single. I have the speedwerx head, can, and my jetting and clutch are right on, and I can get a set of twins for $220.00 already coated.

The only time aftermarket performance pipes should be added, is when you change displacement/compression ratio. IMHO of course.
I have seen more guys throw Power Breathers, pipes, reed cage kits, and clutching on Arctic Cats, only to come out with a slower sled than what is was when it was stock.
