: Where Are The New Sleds?

I've only done about 500km so far this season, but noticed a definite lack of new sleds on the trails. I've seen one REV Renegade, a few new REVs (GSX and MXZ), but no Polarises or Cats. Are sales down this season?

Wouldn't suprise me. I've only been out a couple of times, but noticed the same thing.

I would've thought that sales would be up given last year's winter. My dealer seemed to sell a lot of REVs this season, but they're not riding on the same trails I am :)

ONTrider , here is the reason in a nutshell. there is snow in the south so people dont have to trailer north to ride. given the opportunity why should they. This makes the trails up north a dead zone.

Yeah, but I rode in the Barrie area on Friday and Saturday. That's about as close as I'd want to be from Toronto and points south to get half decent trails. Muskoka was pretty dead today.

Perm your right on. Things are pretty slow around here, and the trails are nothing to brag about.

around here i thought i would be one of the new kids on the block and there is every make model new sled out there, something i thought i would never see and i seen it yesterday was a ski-doo 4 stroke on the trail. in fact i passed two 2005 REV renegades, one was ridden by our own dpaige.

I'm not sure where you guys are riding because I've seen a LOT of new REVs and Firecats in my area (Penetang - Barrie).
I guess it's just timing... we rode the loop from Barrie to Penetang to Midland to Coldwater to Orillia to Barrie on Friday and I did not see one F7 and only a small handful of REVs.

Much as I love the REV, it's almost too easy to ride and seems to have dropped the entry-level bar to dizzying new lows.

I've said it before, there should be a safety course you NEED to pass to ride a sled. Having the cash and the drivers license should not be enough.
:D :D :D

Well said Andy. Last weekend on the Paudash trails I saw the new red Revgade & a couple of '04 Revgades.

There were a few REVs @ the Paudash cookout today too. Saw some Sabrecats as well.

Saw tons of new stuff out today, up and around bancroft, and even saw an elite. They stopped at the algonquin lodge. There must have been 20 sleds parked at the mcdonalds/ gas station in bancroft.

I'm impressed that you saw an Elite! I have yet to see a single Sabrecat. It's no big deal, just making an observation.

Down here i have seen lots of new sleds. Just depends what trails we decide to ride, some places we see lots of older sleds and then when we are up around the clubhouse at the lake i see all kinds of new stuff.

When I was riding in the mountains I noticed the same thing. Usually when we've been out there we see a ton of new sleds. This year we saw some new king cats, but didn't see any new poo's, doo's, or yamaha's.

Truthfully, around here, i wanna know the opposite. WHere are all the old sleds?? When i ride up to the san clara area 98 percent of machines are probably 98 and up. The oldest sled I saw around there last year besides my groups was a 98 rmk 700. The rest were brand spanking new.

Also, some one asked if sales might be down, around here they probably are seeing as farmers are going to be lucky to pay off their expenses this season, never mind buy sleds etc.

Not many new sleds around Detroit Lakes area but we have had a dry spell of very little snow for 3 winters. Not a very good incentive for buying a new sled when we cant ride them. I have been able to do quite a bit of riding but have been trailing to find good snow. We got a good dump of snow last week and a lot of people were out this weekend. w00t

As for a safety course, MN now requires you to take a Snowmobile Safety Training class if you were born after Dec 31, 1976.
