This poll is for all skidoo owners with 800 cc class engines.
If you have burnt up a stator please vote and post the year of your sled with an estimate of the mileage it got.
if not still vote with a no, if your stator has not been replaced.

The guys with stator problems should go to the Ski-doo website, click on "About Us" , "Contact Us". You can let them know about your problems there. I've already sent them my comments on the REV http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/devil.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sly.gif

What the heck is a stator??

As you can see by the replies above, most of the stator problems have been on the Mach Z. *The CK-3 Mach Z eats stators for breakfast, lunch, dinner and a midnight snack.

http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif The stator on my 2000 Mach Z went out in Canada at 3100 miles. It was running great all day and when we stopped to fill up before putting our sleds away for the night, I had no spark at all. I had the same problem on my 94 Mach Z at 4200 miles and on the same trip in Canada my brothers stator went on his 2001 MXZ 800. Ski-doo covered my brothers because it was so close to warranty but when I called Ski-Doo, they said that they haven't had a problem with stators so they could not cover mine. This ticked me off so bad that I am considering buying another brand.

Ski-Doo doesn't have stator problems on the triples,

Performencex: A stator is what produces your electrical power. ie a part of the magneto system. when it goes there is no power supplied to the lights , spark plugs or any other part of the sled. When the stator goes the sled is dead, until the stator is replced. About 350 - 450 canadian.
What really sucks is how it goes. I was running hard on the bay and stopped with some friends for a break. went to start it and nothing.
When they go there is no warning, your running good one second and completely down the next

So basically the 2-stroke equivalent of an alternator?

The stator died in my 99 mach 1 at about 700kliks. So many were blowing up then that they were backordered, i had to wait 2 weeks for a new one. *Bombi gave me a new rental to drive until mine was fixed http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

All brands break down it's how it's dealt with that matters

98 SummitX 670

We stopped for break at around with sled around 3500KM's. No spark when try to start. Discovered dead stator after towing sled to buddies house then diagnosing problem.

When we pulled the stator out to replace it looked like it had been done before. I'm at about 6000KM now. Hopefully I will not have to replace another...

what procedure is used to def. diagnose its a stator problem? I am a dummy for electrical stuff. Is there a magnito there also?
Can it be reached with sled in engine? i.e. remove recoil plus maybe silencer! any special tools or tricks for installation??

I purchased a 1999 Mach Z in 2004. Got it cheap, 3000.00 Canadian. Nice looking machine, excellent shape with reverse, with about 6000KM on it.I heard the horror stories about the triples but decided to go ahead anyway. It didn't really run right, turned out it needed a stator and CDI pak. That was two years ago,I have had two years of nearly trouble free servise with it, but i wouldn't buy another one. I just can't believe this company would let these problems go on year after year.According to the other posts I'm due for another stator or CDI pak soon. My feelings are I am riding a ticking time bomb. It looks like the newer machines are no better.Jamie
