: Performance Sled's W/reverse & Elc Start
MR.800 02-03-2004, 03:34 PM I would like to hear your choices on Performance sleds w/these options.
I know the Viper has a ER model. What else is out there?????
Thanks,
BIGFOOT
Spaceman 02-03-2004, 03:43 PM Sabercat LX It's a firecat with trail shocks, reverse and Electric start. Mine is the 700 efi. It rips!
CompuTron 02-03-2004, 04:52 PM My neighbor has a 2000-2002? MXZ with electric start and reverse...i think its a 700....ZX style, so they are around i suppose
phat_cat800 02-03-2004, 05:02 PM The 02 T-cat came standard with reverse but you still had to pull it over. The sabercats LX come with electric start and reverse, but they are not 'classed' as a high performance same as some of the ZL's from the past. Cats new T660 ST also comes with elec. start and reverse.
dpaige 02-03-2004, 05:03 PM Just about any Performance sled can be ordered with these options.
the RER is is STANDARD equipment on ALL Ski Doo sleds.
rjs5689 02-03-2004, 05:06 PM perc Polaris electronic reverse contril is standard on all polaris sleds!
Rocketman 02-03-2004, 05:14 PM My 7c rev has RER..don't need electric start though
CORY9 02-03-2004, 05:36 PM I am sure you can get whatever you want nowadays on a performance sled. Personally I really like the electronic reverse, no extra weight, and no mechanical parts to break. Only drawback is it's slower than slapping a gear, but doesn't hurt your back.
cat-rider 02-03-2004, 06:18 PM I like R(reverse)for backing off your trailer and stuff like that but ES(electric start)weighs to much and I can start my sled just fine.
I ordered my 600 ho REV with electric start and reverse.... best thing I ever did.... I don't care about the little extra weight, I havn't noticed it (the weight) yet,... flying down the trail or passing another sled! Dooz..... :slick:
michahicks 02-03-2004, 09:26 PM Big block twins and below 0 temps are perfect examples of why God invented electric start. Both it and reverse should be standard equipment on any sled owned/ridden by somebody over 40. They nearly pay for themselves when they are sold, so what is the REAL cost if it saves a sore back just once? The weight thing on electric start is bunk. We are talking a weight difference of less than half a tank of gas. Big deal. If I were 19, and out on a track, I might be concerned....
Rocketman 02-03-2004, 09:43 PM I start my 800 with my left hand at -30C (haven't tried any colder yet) :p
doonut 02-04-2004, 09:09 AM RER and electric start are the only way to go these days( just turned 40 ). Its quick, easy and the wife can start her own sled when its -30 outside. :)
michahicks 02-04-2004, 10:14 AM Rocketman,
I'm sure there are people who could tie the starter rope to a tree and pull on the front bumper to start an 800 twin at -30. The point is, why would you want to do that if you don't have to? :D :D
EDGEXFAN 02-04-2004, 11:36 AM I got my first sled with reverse in 2001 and haven't got a sore back since. I used to be so excited to ride when we'd get to the trails i'd throw my back out just unloading it off the trailer because i was in such a hurry, not anymore. I'd rather pull a lever than a 500lb sled around. Wife had a doo touring with electric start, was great except for the fact i had to replace it every year for $70.00
Shortbus 02-04-2004, 12:03 PM My sled ('04 Adrenaline MXZ600HO) has a ES and RER. The RER was standard and the ES was an option but I didn't get charged for it so I'm not complaining. :D
fennsz 02-04-2004, 02:49 PM Polaris, can't go wrong with the PERC. Standard. Get a XC SP 800, sweet sled. Just rode one last weekend.
