My buddy boubht a 2003 XCSP 500 with the SLP track extension kit on it from our local polaris dealer and he rode it fairly hard for about 250 miles when the belt shreaded. He brought it to the dealer and they adjusted his belt deflection and a few other odd ends, they sent him out the door with a new belt installed and he rode it another 350 miles when the new belt started making some not so good noise on the clutch, so I put my extra belt on his sled(same belt size) and it performes great. My question is what could be causing it to burn up these belts so quickly? The sled is brand new with around 700 miles now and working on its 3 belt the first one is justified due to the deflection but how could this little 500 toast these belts like this? he rides pretty hard and is on the gas alot but so am I on my 700 and still havent had to change mine yet! :nimrod:

my buddy who is on an 02 indy 500 just finally changed his belt at 4000 miles 3 weeks ago, and when he rides the throttle is to the bar around 90 percent of the time in ditches and stuff like that. I wouldn't mind knowing what your friends problem is either. But with a sled that new, it would be at the dealer until it was fixed, i wouldn't put up with it chewing belts.

Perhaps the clutches need to be aligned.

Your supose to take it easy on a new belt to brake it in.

Take it back to the dealer.
