:nimrod: :I have come to the conclusion that the amount of snow i receive and the money it takes to uphold this sport for myself is no longer within reason. I have made many friends on here . Thanks for all the advice knowledge and good laughs you have all allowed me to be a part of i will most likely check in now and then but for the most part i'm done. My sled, trailer, snowmobile lift, all sled tools, coat helmet all went on ebay and sold in a package deal today. So i wish you all good luck continue to give FLASH A HARD TIME ABOUT HI WEOPEON and may you all have safe a awsome times on the trail PUREEE THANKS FOR THE GREAT TIME up IN THE U..P. YOU WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN MY FRIEND. So long all**()() :inlove: :inlove: :inlove:

got snow? sorry to hear about you getting out of the sport. As a fellow Indiana native, I understand your frustration with lack of snow, but hopefully you'll reconsider down the road and get back in. Was adding up expenses on an earlier post and it does get pricey, but the friends I've made and the memories I've got seem to outweigh all the negatives. Good luck with everything you do and hope to see you back.

Gabe, we will miss you here on the board.*sniff* *sniff* :( :( Please dont be a stranger and come around from time to time. If you still wanna ride you could rent a machine once or twice a year at various locations and it will cost much less. You could ride a new sled every year and you could even ride different brands if you so choose. Snow amounts just dont seem to be what they were when I was a kid (or maybe I am just taller now :D ) We have a dealer up here that will lease a sled for the whole season, maybe you can find something like this where you live too.

Sorry to hear Gabe....I enjoyed chattin' with you from time to time, and am sorry we were never able to hook up. But I doubt that you will be out of the sport forever. Pretty soon El Nino, or his sister, has to give us midwesterners a break and shower us with some good winters, and the fever will get ya. Keep in touch!!

I can feel your frustration. Snowmobiling costs have got waaaay out of line. Just today I rode 206 miles and it cost me $50.00 just in fuel!!!!
Everything about this sport is so expensive that I dont know how families can get involved. I have lost a great amount of intrerest this year and have only rode 600 miles where normaly i would have about 1800 on.
Between the big expence and billions of people tearing up the trails making them mogal mountains I dont know how much longer I can stand it either... :(

Hey man. Get an old sled and go that route. Sleds like my old JD's aren't the fastest, or fanciest, but they're cheap to be had, and make it easier to justify the hobby in low/no snow places. They don't require deep snow either as the liquids have radiators instead of heat exchangers.

As soon as I get the fuel system cleaned out on mine, I'll be looking forward to ripping it up and down the neighbourhood on the next sleet and ice storm. :D

You all made some really good points and i was doing good staying off the sight and not having to many flashbacks of the great pleasures riding gave me. But i think the thing that did me in was going up to the u.p. newberry and riding there awsome trails and how the people seemed to be more responsible when riding staying to there side and not goingg off trail where the arn't supposed to . then coming home and riding the tight narrow trails here corn field , cornfield, cornfield street , street , ... just wasn't the same plus you don't even know where the trail is because every idiot that walks this earth is out there riding right off trail and whereever they please. I will most likely go to the u.p again next year but it will be on a rental. so i will keep you in mind puree. thanks jim and all you others for the nice warm feelings and the little( you people love me you really love me) feeling that i felt inside reading all your comments. i am sure to check in everyonce and a while even if it is just to give paul a little jab! you guys all take care and i hope you are blessed with a huge snowfall but i do have to let you in on a little secret! don't go feeling all bad for me i just sold those toys and bought a toy that i can use more often here is a pic cya guys and gals(lady k)

Hey Gabe

Sorry to hear about your decision to call it quits. I'm sure we can all relate at times. I know I thought about it when my sled got ripped off. Mind you for only half a second, but the thought entered my mind.

I know you'll still cruise by the site every once in a while. After all, "We are family".... I won't torture everyone with that 70's song any further.

I was glad that instead of trading your sled in for a couch and spending your days inside, you traded it in for an awesome ride. Keep us updated on some of your new '2 wheeled sled" adventures.

Take care, Stay Safe.
