I just rebuit my 2000 700 rotax motor and i was just curios about the oil injection setting. I know that there was a recall for this year do to lack of oil. What i am wondering is if the marks are off on the pump or if they were just set them wrong at the factory. I set mine rich to be safe and rode about 200 miles breaking it in last night and it used a ton of oil. I am going to reset it tonight so if it is between the marks will I be safe. i plan on lining it up on the high side of the two marks. any info on where the proper settings are will be greatly apprieated. thanks, andy

Can I call my dealer to find out if this recall was done? I'm the 4th owner of mine and I'm not sure if its been changed. I only used about 1/4 tank of oil and I've used at least 2 tanks of gas.

andy, The bulletin mainly said that there was a difficulty in lining the marks ups and that some may have been set wrong. The difficulty was sighting the marks, if your not looking straight at the pump body casting that the mark is on, it's ez to get the setting off. IMO they had them set too low, realized it, and put this bulliten out to cover their butt. Attached is a pic with the min max spec, I find the min spec uses plenty of oil, but your results may differ. A small adjustment makes more difference than you'd think so keep that in mind when dialing it in.

Right below the carbs. If you pull the carbs of the reeds you can see the pump clearly, but the marks are a little harder to see. I use a mirror something like a dennist would use in your mouth they make them with lights on them that work pretty good. IMO

I'd forget about the marks (other than for initial adjustment), and then set it to use 50:1 or more (more is definately better!).

Mine was set to use 50:1 and I still burned up a crank in two seasons (on my third one now).

Oil is cheap, cranks are not.

they are hard to see,but using a mirror you can.I set them up with the mark just past the line ,to the rich side.I have 2 of these in my shop all the time and set up a couple others.my dealer has had zero 00 700 crank failures.but we thought they looked fishy and called doo tech to get it strait from the get go.and from this post doing it your way is NOT working ,if you have been through 2 cranks and working on number 3.please don't take that as a bash, just a good guess.
