ya intentionally hit a snowmobile with your vehicle...what do they call that...hmmm...vehicular manslaughter???

sure these guys were in the wrong...and i'm not sticking up for them...but whats a four wheel drive vehicle doing be 'forced' into the ditch by two small snowmobiles?? going too fast and couldn't react safely??? the truck itself wasn't on the right side of the road?? them av's are worth a buttload of money...if it hit the ditch hard enough to write it off, it was going too fast....

Russ, you're a true voice of reason. It doesn't matter if the sledders are at fault, running them over with a truck is not a viable option. And I know that you guys know that too, and would avoid the accident yourselves if you were in the same situation. If not, then you shouldn't be allowed on the roads.

Not if you stop, and let the idiot smack into the truck. :D

No sled would run me off the road, the road is no place for a sled anyway. Was the ditch closed or something? Is that why the sleds were on the road? That question is stupid, but so isn't riding the road.

If the idiots were driving illegally then if you run them over you should not be charged. If some fool is coming down the road on my side and we have a head on collision, it's not me that gets charged. There is no way I'm going to endanger myself for some moron on a sled. If it's my life or his and he is riding illegally, he's going down, plain and simple and yes I'll sleep great at night.

But what if it's a couple of neighborhood kids TPM? You actually going to tell us that you could run them down and still sleep well at night? You never really know who is riding what these days! Reguardless of who was on the sled (ok - maybe my mother-in-law would be different :) ) I, personally, would take the hit - cars are replaceable and have a WHOLE lot more protection then someones sled. Here in Michigan snowmobiles are allowed on the shoulder of most roads. I know this sounds crazy, but I think gotta we (drivers of cars) REALLY watch out for THEM (alot like pedestrians) - no one really wants to send someone home in a box!!

He put the truck off the road, he didn't kill himself. Would you take the chance on killing someone rather than put your (IMO very ugly) truck in a ditch? If so, you might be sleeping well, but you'll also be burning for a very long time.

You have no idea what the situation was there. Perhaps ski-doos use that section of road regularly. (the do here) Perhaps the truck was speeding. Maybe the guy in the truck was busy changing a CD or dialing his cell phone. Maybe there was no ditch, but snowbanks. There could be 100 different reasons for riding on the road, and anybody who says they haven't done it either hasn't been riding very much, or they're a liar.

I'm just thankful that the guy driving the truck was not as self-centred and self-rightous as some of you make yourselves out to be. Seriously, does it make you feel good to talk tough like that?

exactly!! The vehicle has the right away and if the sledders are dumb enough to play chicken then their dumb enough to eat grill. Some irresponsible riders like them is what makes it so hard for us others to enjoy riding with all these new laws and anti sledder protests. Pretty much the good pay for the bads mistakes. Isn't that a wonderful thing.

Newfie....You mention lots of what ifs.......

"What if"--- the guy in the Avalanch had his/her 6 month baby (in a car seat of course) in the vehicle when it went in the ditch..... and the child was injured or worse????
The truck went into the ditch hard enough to be totalled didn't it?
How would do you think he/she would be sleeping then?

How 'self rightious' would this be?

Like I said Newf, "illegally." If the sledders were riding illegally, such as two abreast and one in the wrong lane, then the truck wins!

BTW, Avalance is beautiful!

When you're driving down the road and you have to avoid an accident, it's hard to take the time to consider if somebody is doing something legally or illegally. Most peoples instinct is to avoid the accident, and I thank God for that. Nobody is saying that the ski-dooers had the right to drive two abreast, but saying you would run them over rather than avoid them? Come on.

oh we got the idea now, we'll make the way people view snowmobilers better by simply running over any snowmobilers when we get the chance....don't we have enough enemies as a group already? can we stop the snowmobiler on snowmobiler violence...

....we don't know the particulars of this situation, so there are a lot of what ifs...but honestly think about it, your out riding and you see a large truck directly in front of you...both you and the truck must be going at a fair clip (the truck was totalled, i've seen these trucks in accidents, they are tough and cost lots of money, insurance companies do not like to write these off) what do you do? hold it the bar and keep on path directly for the truck? looks to me like the truck lost control and went into the ditch....however this is just one scenario, we weren't given enough information to know for sure....

....snowmobiling is legal on the roads (at least here in ontario)....i must ride a short distance on my road to get anywhere.....i've seen plenty of motorcycles riding side by side down roads...

and to the guy that said he could sleep fine at night after intentionally killing someone....you'll be sleeping real fine in your prison cell next to bubba...

and av's are not ugly, best looking truckish thing on the road!

rjs5689 (hah is there meaning behind your handle, or is it just a group of random letters and numbers?)

Any GM truck looks better than the rest....as far as escalades, i like the previous front end versus the new style one, 02 and up i think.....the new one is too 'pimped out' for me....

Same thing happened to me, i came around a backroad corner with my fiero, not too good in the winter anyhow, I was doin the speed limit drivin safe, and a kid on a Mini Z came zippin round the bend on the wrong side of the road, i jerked my wheel and missed him ended up in the ditch sideways, pretty deep. Thing was all i was thinkin is holy $#!t thank god i didn't run that kid over. it was definately his fault, but if you say you could do that and sleep well at night you are one sick Fuc#!!! Story ends the guy paid to get me pulled out, and i think i gained some riding buddies cuase i didn't lose my cool. Everyone has done something stupid in their lives, i don't think we all need to die for em!!!

Whatever the case the sleds shold not be riding like fools and the guy or girl driving should be more aware while operating a vehicle. Both at fault case closed

well,it did happen to me a few years ago.two sleds riding side by side down a back road which is legal where i live.except for the side by side part.instead of ditching my vehicle,i got over as close to the ditch as possible without going in and hit the brakes.the guy riding on my side of the road grabbed a handfull of brake also and swerved back in behind his buddy.i think that the load in his pants was punishment enough........................
