There seems to be a lot of people using a GPS but no track uploads. Why is this? I can't believe that it is too much work for someone? Maybe some people don't have data cables or computers? I know a lot of the GPSs come with data cables.. If everyone would just take a few minutes to share tracks our GPSs would be of much greater benefit..

PLEASE SHARE YOUR TRACKS!!

I use a Magellan and I see most all use the E-trax, so I'd be posting for naught. shane

There's one of the problems! People are too concerned with what they get out of it. Everyone should stop thinking of only themselves. Crossplatform should not be an issue as I believe Ozinexplorer will upload and download both formats to most models. If people would simply participate these issues/concerns would be brought up and resolved.

I don't know.. Maybe this idea of sharing and participation is too much to expect!

Robin, will you please try to post the ones I emailed to you? Maybe you will have better luck than I.

Well it looks like Oziexplorer will upload and download to most models but cannot load mapsend or mapsource track files. To ensure best crossplatform compatibility I will from this point always offload my tracks using Oziexplorer and upload them in a Oziexplorer format (.plt). This will ensure most all users can use the tracks regardless of platform (Garmin, Magellan). The downside to this is everyone will have to download and use Oziexplorer to load tracks instead of their GPS software (mapsend, mapsource).

One user (forgot who) uploaded the tracks to his GPS with Oziexplorer then offloaded them with Mapsource to convert them. Until someone discovers a better way Oziexplorer is the only universal program that works with most all GPSs.

JIM - I will be uploading your tracks soon. I have some more from the weekend and will get these uploaded as well.

I'll post mine as soon as I have some. So far it hasn't been a great season. With some luck (hoping I've paid my dues) I should have the Trout Lake/Strongs/Raco area mapped out the weekend after the SW ride.

I'm fairly good with the computer but new to the GPS. I have the magellan sportrak map GPS, and so far have mapped trails from exeter to collingwood (Ontario) and many areas in between.

Whats the best program to download from gps to computer and edit them, and upload back to GPS or internet.

Thanks

You should download and use Oziexplorer as it can upload and download to most makes and models. FYI: I had a Sportrak and returned it for a Garmin because of Garmin's ability to have 10+ saved tracks and custom map uploads..
