There's still lots of snow here, though the trails are getting pretty bad, and there's getting to be alot of slush.
But how many of you are still using your sleds.

it's finished in Ottawa, Ontario, but you could wear your carbides down on the road with the 2" of wet snow we got last nite.

-17 below this morning, easily over a month of riding. In some years you can ride in June with only having to trailer a little further up the mountain...........

Back in '98 I was out in Alberta & BC around the May 2-4 weekend. Saturday morning we're heading out of Calgary on the Trans Canada when a pickup with a sled in the back & towing 2 more on a trailer passes us. When we we're in Golden, we saw a couple more sleds in trucks that looked like they had just gotten back from riding http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif

We got 7" of snow the last two days so I pulled the wifes '00 XC440sp (sold my sled last week http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif *)out and rode it around on my property and proceeded to waterskip it on my pond. I am now in the dog house but it was fun!! *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

So what's the deal in WI and MI....the trails closed the first of the month, right? *But can you still ride on forest roads, or any other trails?

They are still grooming in the U.P. They are even grooming some of the unplowed roads to take place of some of the trails that are no longer usable.

Going again tomorrow!!

The trails were great!!!

We had the best ride of the season. Put on 400 miles and sw only about 30 other sleds and I'm thinking that some of those were sleds we saw twice. Did lots of water skipping. Some on Kingston Lake and some at the Eagles Nest. I have a few pics I'll get on here as soon as I can. No one went under this time. *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif I'm not sure if the trails will hold up for another ride or not. It was raining after 5" of fresh snow when we left.

My wife and I along with our 15 month old son ran 95 miles of trackless snow on Saturday. She and I along with two more kids and her sister put on another 135 after 3:00 pm yesterday. The season is now getting good for riding.

Northern Saskatchewan has snow, anywhere from La Ronge north. *Just put 300miles on my Pantera this weekend. *In the bay of Lac La Ronge and up along the Churchill River the powder is about 3 feet. *Weather was great. *Should last another couple of weeks, depending on temps. *Further north even longer. *Not putting my machine away just yet. * *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Put on another 40 miles last night. Pulled my pull chord out and had to start the sled with the clutch, and had to remove my thermostat as it broke and caused overheating. Beautifull ride other than that.

Just got back from another ride. The rain yesterday (that I was out riding in) really did a job on the snow. But the trails are still good for now.
I was up as far as Lake Wahnupatiae. The lake is covered in about 3-4 inches of water. I took a quick spin out on the lake, but I wouldn't go far. I think I'm going to start avoiding ice for the rest of the year.

Hi Snow Monkey. *In reply to your question. *I am from the one part of Saskatchewan that has had snow this winter. *La Ronge. *We started sledding this year in December, and we are expecting another 5 cm of the white stuff tomorrow, so we will still be at it this week and most likely next week. *I would say the trails are still good for this time of year. *Only the odd thin spot where the sun has got to the southern exposures. *Got into some of the lakes between La Ronge and the Churchill River on the weekend. *3 feet of powder and no tracks. *It was heaven. * Only hope the weather holds for another week. *Got to work and most likely will not get a chance to get out till next week some time. *At least I still do not have to trailer out of town yet. *I have heard the Reindeer Lake - Wollaston Lake area has at least 3 feet of powder. *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Now the trails are getting bad. I'm sure that after this weekend they're going to be all mud.
Has anybody been up north of Lake Wanapitei lately? I'm guessing that there's still lots of snow up there.
Either way, I think I'm going to put the machine away soon. It's just sooo hard to admit to myself that I won't go for another ride this year.

Just thought I would add one more comment. *Bunch of us were out yesterday and put 50miles on cruisng the lake shore here on Lac La Ronge. *Snow is still good along the shore lines and the lake is still solid, they are still driveing trucks on the ice. *Season should be over soon, but not just yet. http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

I've been out a couple of days ago (bad conditions tho). I have to go about 100 miles north for decent snow tho, over here everything's been gone for weeks already, and there's no ice left on the rivers and lakes. But in the mountains it's still quite okay in the morning and early afternoon for what I've heard.

Golsovia

My wife and I took probably the last long ride for this year on Saturday logging 124 miles. There were water crossings in the trail and the difference between early afternoon and evening were very significant in terms of water volume. There'll still be several more weeks of short runs but I suspect they'll be utility trips more than anything. Warm winds are killer for the remaining snow and we've had some bad stuff recently.

My last ride was April 1st in the Hurley Ironwood area. The weekof 4/7 the snow melted in 2 days with a lot of flooding on the Mich side. I put the sleds away 4/27 and got the 4 wheelers going. Because of the flooding they had the ATV trails closed.

Going up for the ATV rally Memorial Day weekend. Time to get wet and dirty instead of wet and cold.

There are definately some diehards uphere. *I did my last run on May 5. *Lake Conditions were excellent, about 3 inches of snow ontop of 3 feet of good ice. *Heck, They are still driving trucks on the lakes. *Saw a couple of machines out on the ice this weekend (May 11). *Lac La Ronge is a little late going out this year. *Definately will not be free of ice for the beginning of fishing season next week.
Think I will put my Cat away tomorrow and call it an end.

Went on May 8 just west of Calgary at Maclean Creek. There was about 2 feet of fresh snow from a storm that just went through here. There was lots of standing water on the trails on the way back in at night so I think that's it for that area.
