I currently have a 98 FIII 700 with some work on it. I've
got a chance to buy a complete (w/o carbs http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif) 1999
Mach 1 mill. Besides supposedly correcting the oiling issue
to the PTO crank bearing, what other differences are there
betwene the 98' & 99' Doo 700 triples? *Thanks *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I think there are probably the same differences as between the machZ and FIII...different clutching, jetting and RAVE springs.

My 98 is piped already and I've got the 98 Mach 1 carb
set-up with the Mach 1 rave springs. I'm wondering if the
jugs, head, crank and case are the same. Clutching is still
a little bit of a mystery since I put in the Thunder shift
arms. http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

Maluchm:

There are a few diffrences. *

There is a higher quality grease used in the far bearing (PTO i think) *With this grease and the bigger oil jurnals the 99 700 loses the crank bearing problems that plaged the 98. *

There are also a few more diffrences some i think are bottom end enlarged, Bigger water pump, but im not sure so maybe someone else can clerify this.

from my experience(owned a 98 F-III700) 98 doo 700's sux'd. *they were nothing but lemons, and you hardley ever see 99 700's mess up so, that should be all the dif you need. * *if you can get the other motor cheap buy it and sell the 98 motor.
