I have one that I got for free about 10 years ago., its got about 5000 miles on it, and still original. Runs like a bear, and honestly is quite quick. as far as older sleds go, it beats just about any of them, because it runs so good. It idles like a champ, and it screams right to top RPMs like a new sled.

I swear that motor will run forever, its a shame that it has no suspension!

anyone else have sleds like these old cats that are still running like mine?

I have a 68 and a 77 Panther. Sunday I ran the 77 up the side of a 12,800 ft mountain and had lunch at the ski lodge. Everything on that sled is original except the clutch. I am not sure I agree on how fast they are but cant beat them for reliability and traction with that 17 inch cleated track !

My brother's boys and my son tool around on vintage cats just about every evening.

My son rides my '74 340 Cheetah that simply screams. Everything is original besides going through the track/recleating and a couple of new ignition coils.

My brother's two boys both ride his '72 440 Panther and a '75 440 Panther we purchased together. We went through the track on his '72 this year, everything else is original. It's a shame he hacked up his cowling in an attempt to get more air flow through it however. We looking at his coils at this point due to it heating up and quitting after about an hour of riding.

The '75 we purchased this year needed a little TLC (brake cable/carb rebuild) but it's a nice running sled. Put a new battery in it for the electric start this past week.....boy is that nice just turning a key instead of pulling on the rope start!!!

I hope to have some pics of the three cats soon.
