BackInIt 02-12-2004, 06:03 AM Obviously not a photoshop job here folks!!
WickedWiesel 02-12-2004, 07:21 AM Looks like I might be buying a poo next.
WKinneIII 02-12-2004, 07:47 AM Has sort of a Blade feel to it, I am impressed. Still not a huge fan of the lights though.
Wayne
SD_Sledhead 02-12-2004, 08:39 AM They have some pretty cool looking tail lights! If you look in the background there is an Edge with the adjustable seat with the same tail lights as it had last year, then look to the left of that and you'll see the new style ones.

That thing is sooo ####ing ugly! If that's the competition to the REV, GOOD LUCK POO!
I guess Skidoo's sales will continue to be #1
Well that proves that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I can't say I'm sold on the looks of the Fusion, as I haven't seen enough of it to get a feel for it, but if snowmobiles were slod on looks alone I don't think they'd be selling many Revs. Most people hate the looks of the Rev, and it's definatly the kind of thing that has to grow on you. Not a love at first sight kind of thing for sure.
What worries me is things like the taillight. I prefer the small and simple kind of light found on the RMK/SKS. Lightweight and cheap. The new one looks like it's going to be big bucks to replace when the inevitable happens.
800REV 02-12-2004, 09:59 AM looks like one of those ugly a@@ Blade sleds. Sorry poo guys but looks like Polaris will be 3rd in sales this year. :D
RedDeath 02-12-2004, 10:09 AM I think it would look fine if they ditched that ugly @$$ headlight. other than that I have no complaints
QUEBEC#1 02-12-2004, 10:19 AM We cant judge the machine yet we havent even seen what it could do ! I know i found the rev very ugly but now the look is growing on me and from what everyone says the performance is right up their so lets wait and see what this new baby can doo....! :D (AND GET BETTER PICS)
fordfan397 02-12-2004, 10:26 AM Most people hate the looks of the Rev
Yep....
TallCool1 02-12-2004, 10:31 AM Boy!!!!! Can you say, REV?!?! I have to believe if you drew an outline of that sled, and an outline of the REV, there wouldn't be much difference between the two. Overall the sled looks nice, but the headlights will take sometime to get used to them.
You have to wonder though, how can Polaris save face?? I mean, within the last 12 months, they've been knocking the hell out of Doo, saying Poo's riding position was superior to the REV's, and now it looks like Poo has adopted the popular style too. Also, Poo has stood strong on their trailing arms, and now, we knew it was coming, they've adopted the a-arms also. I'm not questioning that they've made these changes, they were inevitable to remain competitive, but that Poo has gone on such an offensive in the last 12 months or so, knocking Doo and Cat in all the magazines.
Either way, looks like the Poo faithful finally have a NEW product, so all should be happy.
WKinneIII 02-12-2004, 10:35 AM if snowmobiles were slod on looks alone I don't think they'd be selling many Revs
Gotta agree with you there. That Rev is one UGLY machine, especially the first year it came out with the beavertail. tell you the truth I think most sleds out anymore are ugly, I liked the generation right before this one alot better as far as looks go... ZR, ZX, SRX, and Edge, were all alot prettier than what has replaced them IMO.

Right with ya WKinneIII!! The hottest lookin sleds by far are the 03 Mach Z, ZR 800, and Edge chassis. Sure looks aren't everything.... but they ARE something. This new poo will take a few years to grow on me, glad I got my 04!!

Jim can you explain to me why an A-Arm suspension is beeter than the Trailing arms? I have ridden both and really don't see any advantages, in fact when everyone had trailing arms and Cat had A-Arms I actually like the trailing arm better. I have asked this question multiple times and nobody has ever even attempted to answer it. Not saying they aren't better, just want to know what makes em better.
Wayne
NewfieBullet 02-12-2004, 11:01 AM The main advantage of the double wishbone suspension is that all the geometry for the steering stays consistant throughout the range of travel of the suspension. With a trailing arm, the angle of the spindle changes as the suspension is compressed.
The advantages of the trailing arm system are mostly in the weight, and the cost of production.
Arguments can be made either way about the durability of the two systems. Trailing arms don't seem to wear the componants as much as A-arms, at least not judging by all the older Cats you see that have gone sloppy in the suspension. But Trailing arms do have a tendency to bend on impact, which can suck. On the other hand, disposable "crash parts" can be a good thing. Better to destroy a cheap part then to have the impact transferred to the expensive and critical bulk head.
The newer wishbone suspensions aren't as good at crash survival as the older Cats were, I suspect because the A arms are longer, and, like a lever, trasnmit more force to the bulkhead area.
For example, this RX-1 suffered a low speed impact (<20mph) with an "immovable object" and was so damaged that it's been written off by the insurance company. The A arms are cheap enough to replace, but the bottom arm pulled right out of the bulk head, and tore a hole in it, in effect, destroying the machine.
NewfieBullet 02-12-2004, 11:04 AM Here's the gash underneath.
NewfieBullet 02-12-2004, 11:08 AM In contrast, look at this Polaris (an image I pulled from the net). It obviously sustained a much more serious impact, yet I highly doubt that it was wrote off, as all the parts are easily replaceable.
We keep complaining about the cost of insurance, but I think we have to let the manufacturers know that we need machine that are cheap and easy to fix, or our insurance costs will continue to skyrocket.
TallCool1 02-12-2004, 11:16 AM Wayne, not to get off topic here, but I agree with what Newfie said as for the differences. Do I really think the A-arms are better.....I really can't say, but it seems all the manufacturers do, now. A-arms are all I've ever owned since the leaf spring days, so I'm not a fair judge for which one is better. All I can say, is that none of my buddies in my circle of friends own Cats, but when they occasionally ride my sleds, they comment that they like how the front end sticks, and it goes where you want it. I've never been dissatisfied with them, so no reason to change for me. I used to think the trailing arms quality was poor because they seem to bend so easily (my buddy who rides nothing but Poo has replaced SEVERAL over the years), but like mentioned before, replacing them is better than replacing a bulkhead!! In all my years, I've only had to replace one set of A-arms, and that was because of my stupid trick last year. I don't think that's too bad for the way we ride.
Now, back to the new Poo's.......
infinity 02-12-2004, 11:18 AM I don't want to sound greedy because the pics are awesome but do you have any of the new RMK that is coming out.
As for the fusion i think i can get used to it. :dazed:
SD_Sledhead 02-12-2004, 11:44 AM Here's a pic of the new RMK
SD_Sledhead 02-12-2004, 11:45 AM Someone on this site talk about how only 900's are coming out because they didn't get the other engines redone for this chassis. I really hope their not right, but so far I can't find any pics that are anything besides a 900. In this pic there is a RMK in the top left and its still in the Edge chassis.
SEXltsp 02-12-2004, 12:22 PM Without IFS bars what do you grab onto to lift it in the back of a half ton??? :p
fordfan397 02-12-2004, 12:52 PM From that last pic it looks like they are going to use cheezy LCD instrumentation. Didn't the automakers try this in the mid to late 90's? What's next!?!?
louis 02-12-2004, 02:06 PM It has side lumbars which I particularily hate. I find they put a stretch on the groin.....may not be as bad though with the new rider forward, however the gas cap looks like a ballbuster.
Yeah its ugly but as long as form follows fuction and it rocks.
louis 02-12-2004, 02:07 PM Oh, I will take one with an M-10.
Sneaky Pete 02-12-2004, 03:19 PM I wonder if they will have that in a 600 next year. Guess I will just have to wait till
Feb. 23rd to find out.
scottaboshia 02-12-2004, 05:14 PM The new Fusion looks like it will have adjustable stearing column. You can ride stretched out or in a similar fashion to the rev. I think it will be great.
XCR440SP 02-12-2004, 06:19 PM ^^CORRECT^^ at least it is nicer than the REV, the head lights are not sunken in. They may be big like sunglasses for normal lights tho, but cool
willdozer 02-12-2004, 08:44 PM The only engine in this chassis is the 900cc. They are working on the 600 & 700's but they will not be available until they meet the new emissions standard 2006 til 2110. Polaris did not want to build an engine that would only meet the 2006 standards. because that engine would have to be changed in approx. one year to meet the standards thru 2010.This 900 already meets these requirements. It will be awesome!!!! It is very smart on polaris part to give their customers something that will be at the leading edge of engine technolgy for many years.
The Best Thing is it is all Built in the USA
AMERICANS KEEP AMERICANS WORKING!!!! GO POLARIS!!!
