i was thinking of doing some mods to my sled and was wondering what everyone else thought or maybe could tell me how they perform. I want to put 144 mega bite carbide studs up the middle, slp pipe. v force 3 reeds and boost bottle. Maybe someone else has something better that i could do.
I raced a 2001 mxz 700 and he ever so slightly inched away on top end but midrange i caught back up to him. Out of the hole he had me but he had studs too. Im looking to increase my power all around. I want to focus on bottom end and midrange but want to increase my top end slightly. It getting 109 actual mph right now. I was thinking about trying to beat a firecat in a drag but that would prob be alot of money. Any suggestions would help.

if its a stock firecat youll allready beat him. id gear down first. then run 66g weights, and adjust the secondary to compensate for peak rpms. calibrate your tach FIRST. mike

well i'll settle it. I raced a F7 saturday. I also raced a Pro X 700 an XC 800 and another xc 700. I ended up in third. The F7 won. he beat me by 4-5 sled lengths in about 1/2 mile. The xc 800 was a couple sled lengths behind him. If i got the hole shot i could beat the Pro X everytime. Once he got the holeshot got out by a sled length and stayed there. We were dead even all the way through the power band. But also the F7, Pro x, and xc 800 all had studs. The 800 also had a clutch kit. The guy on the F7 is 21 years old, about 5'3" and weighs about 85 pounds, where i am 6'0" and weigh about 230lbs. But as for the F7 i will say it is a quick sled. But as to how quick under fair circumstances is another story.
The F7 owner also says he had his up to 121 mph and didnt look down again. The fastest i had mine was 110 but we finished with him in the lead by 4-5 sled lengths. Someones speedo is way off. I dunno who's.
But back to my original question, what would give me more pull and some more top end. I noticed my sled really coming to the front this weekend. The trails were nice and hard giving excellent traction. Lets just say my arms grew a couple inches longer after our ride. I've never notcied this before. ALso it instantly revs to 8000 rpms when i gas it. Before it was climbing to around 7500 then it would climb up to 8000 but now it is instantly there and worked its way up to 8300 across the lake.

 What did u change to you'r machine Did u gear down and add you'r weights 66grams. U should not let that machine rev more than 7950 after that you'r out of the 700's power band. Reving 8300 is killing you'r topend. Did u remove you'r pucks from you'r rear suspension for better hook up off the line? What about you'r jetting if you'r running stock jetting then u could easly gain even more performance over the entire power band. Lower you'r sled closer to the ground front and rear do u have a low wind sheld after 100 mph drag becomes a mager factour the less drag u have the easyer it is for you'r snowmobile to excellerate. Thers so many thing's you can do to improve you'r machines performance and alot of the things i've just mentiond takes only minutes to do good luck with you'r machine Indy Rocket.

What do you mean by killing the top end, as in im gonna blow it? The sled is completely stock i have done nothing to it. I am running the 440 main jet and we are at around 800 feet. I usually dont run in anything under 0 degrees. Im not gonna pull suspension parts out, i do wanna still ride it. We only drag when we come to a lake while riding.

Take our plate and horns out of the air box, jet down, drop the needles one clip.
buy a set of heavy hitters from Thunder Products. Move the rear blocks to the second hole. Set your suspension as soft as you can. It works!!

removing the shelf doesnt help. its in there for a reason. if your modded to the gill you can remove it. no performance gains on a stocker.

Da Bomb What i said was if you'r running 8300 rpms you'r lossing top end. You should not run that motor no more than 7950 rpms. When you go over that the engine is going out of her power band which make the machine not pull as well.
Now as for you'r pucks or stoppers on you'r rear supesion i took mine out all togther but u could install them in the last seting which will let the machine transver better for more hole shot. You don't have to lower you'r supesion but it helps. If you'r running stock jetting you could probaly get a bit more performance out of you'r machine if you fooled around with the jet's air screws ect. I was only sugesting things you could do to better you'r performance well happy trails.
