I was up till 2am Sat morning getting the sleds ready for probably our only trip this year (we have a new baby). We were just going to ride
around My wifes grandparents 40 acres while they watched the girls. We got to ride
33 miles. My wife asked me to take her sister out for a ride, and let her ride my wifes sled. So I broke my own rule about not letting anybody ride our toys but us, because her sister has been going through a rough time lately. BIG Mistake !
We were out only 5 minutes, the trail winds through the woods opens into a big field. She hits the only tree in the damn field! It was actually kind of funny cause she was going so slow, and it only dinged the bumper. So I pulled it away from the
tree and figured we would just finish the loop back around to the main trail and then to the house. When we got back to the main trail I made sure she new which way I was going and I opened up my sled for a little ways, thinking she would take her time on the way back. I got to the house and pulled off my helmet thinking she would be right behind me. I waited, and waited. I put my gear back on, and road back to the turn. She is standing in the middle of the trail. My wifes sled is wrapped around the only pine tree within 50 yards if the turn. Two Trees In ten minutes. I was :cussing: :cussing: :cussing: :hallo1: :hallo1: :hallo1: :cussing: :cussing: :cussing: :cussing: :cussing: MAD. Not at my sister in law, as much as myself
for breaking my own rules. My wifes sled has a brand new complete rebuild on the engine before this trip . 33 miles. The hood and belly pan were shoved 8" back.
Its not the damage that makes me so ticked its the time it is going to take to fix it,
plus the fact that I spent the time I didn't have to rebuild the engine so we could have 1 weekend of fun this season. At least my sister in law only got a bruise on her leg. I think she tried to rod on it and lost control. I didn't talk to her after finding out If she was ok, cause I didn't trust myself to speak. luckily once we got
back to the house my wife (bless her) kept everyone away from me until I cooled off.
Earlier this week our 2nd floor bath drain pipe came off while my wife was in the shower. The water ran for 15 min. with the drain disconnected. The water ruined
our kitchen ceiling, 2 walls, A bunch of cupboards, and there was a water fall running onto our brand new oven. We are still waiting for the Insurance adjuster on deciding to pay us. :cussing: :cussing: :cussing: Mr. murphy go some were else! What a week!
Sorry I had to vent.

I'd be major P'd off too. How on earth did she manage to hit a tree in the middle of a field, not once, but twice? Was she driving with her eyes closed? If not, maybe she should've been. :p

Tough weekend.Bad news is that you won't be riding anymore this season. The good news is that you won't be riding with your sister in law this winter. :D

My sister in law will not be takeing my kids anywhere in any motorized vehicle
either. That scares me the most she has a drivers license, kind of like giving a teenager a loaded hand gun to play with. I didn't know she can't ride
or drive worth a darn, cause my wife rides/drives better than alot of guys I know.
I thought mabe it ran in the family. Guess not. I'm Still trying to figure out how anybody can hit 2 trees in ten minutes. I just don't understand.

If it makes you feel better I'll tell you about my bad luck. Last weekend I was repairing my sled when i found out the idiots at the sled yard gave me the wrong part, than closed for the weekend, I had to leave it in the greenhouse, where I was workin on it. The greenhouse collapsed from the wind and snow over night on top of my sled. I got it fixed this weekend though. on my way back to college my cars clutch went out, without a warning. I was stranded over night until my dad could dolly my car back home and I could hitch a ride to college. Now I am vehicleless. Sounds like ole Murphy has been jumpin back and forth between me and you.

Thanks for the laugh, unfourtunately at your expense. Don't feel bad, could always be worse, at least she wasn't hurt and sued you. Some people are just overwhelmed by the power of these things, and just can't control them.

That is the reason that everyone I ride with we all have one simple rule" YOU BREAK IT YOU BUY IT" this rule works very good. We haven't had any problems if someone breaks something on somone elses sled he gets the parts and fixes it before the next ride or gives his sled up so the other person can ride until the sled is fixed.

Hell, the only person with that kind of bad luck is me!

And if it'll make you feel better i lent one sled to my brother and the new to me v-max four to his friend to go for a te minute ride. One stops because he sees slush up ahead and the other decides to run the slush and they bang together on the sides. Results = 1 broken leg and two heavily damaged sleds and no riding for me for the next week or so. Don't worry be happy

Glad I'm not the only one with crappy luck! Just last night I took a friend of mine out, he rode my brothers 87 skidoo safari 377. Sled was probably the nicest safari left. Buddy has owned sport bikes for a years so I figure he shoule be able to handle the little safari. So we're riding trails for about 2 mins and I'm taking it easy cause, well, I'm riding with a safari :p Then out of nowhere buddy puts it to the bar and passes me on a blind hill, and just kept going. Took me about 5mins till I caught up to him at a road crossing and chewed him out! Apparently he wasn't aware that their were other people on the trails?!? So after that I told him to stay behind me and take it easy because it was dark and he'd never ridden these trails or any trails for that matter. So we drive about another 1km and I look behind me and surprise suprise he's not there! I drive back a little ways and sure enough my brothers sled is about 25ft in the brush with the hood and bumper cracked up pretty bad. I helped him pull it out and made him ride 25km/h behind me all the way home. I think the no one else on out toys rule is a VERY good idea! Riding sleds has always just felt natural to me, but I have noticed a trend with first timers that steering is apparently quite challenging. Needles to say, I'm done with trying to be nice and introduce people to the sport at my expense. If they want to try, they can go rent something with insurance and maybe then they'll be more careful! :sarcasm:

Well Folks it makes me feel a little better knowing I am not the only one keeping Mr. Murphy in buisness. That saying "If it wasn't for bad luck" definitly applies to
me. I'm thinking of starting to go to church again, or find a few good luck charms. :D
I must not be doing something right with all the bad luck I've had in the last year.
Oh well, keeps life interesting I guess. :p
