Hello, I am trying to find out some information on Drummond Island. I am thinking of riding in that area at the end of February, however, I am not sure what to expect. So, to anyone who has ridden there, I would like to ask a couple of questions.
1. What are the trails like? Are they narrow and twisty or wide and sweeping? Do they groom on a regular basis? About how much snow is up there now?
2. Does it get crowded on the weekends (we will be there probably on a Saturday)?
3. Do you have to use the ferry to get across from Detour to Drummond Island or can you ride the ice this late in the year? How much is the ferry ride?
4. I understand that you can ride between Drummond and a couple other islands including one in Canada. How long of a drive is it between the islands, and do you have to contact Canadian customs if you are only going to ride on the Island(I am assuming Thessolan is an island).
I would appreciate any information available on the above questions or anything else you may think is relevant. Thank you.

Drummond is an awsome ride! Trails are narrow a twisty so anyone riding like a fool will have a problem.
It is very scenic with deer everywhere and many ice formations that Lake Huron provides.
Some say you can cross the ice in certain places but I never have, just take the ferry for $3.00 bucks round trip. The Ferry can be a pain because of the 1 hour schedule so you have to time it right to get off or wait.
Trails are always smooth. There is also a trail route to St. Joe island but it's like 18 miles of deep lake Huron so I dont care for it.
Do it, you wont regret it is perfect for a laidback ride with the little ones and your better half.

... Trails are always grommed well they have 2 gromers and 100 miles of trails. You can cover most of the island in one day... the drummond resort is pretty pricey I think. There are plenty of cabin type places to rent though.
I will be taking a trip for the first time to Canada from Drummond with brother in law. So if you do Drummond one day and Canada the next your pretty good. As far as crossing ferry truck and 2 place trailer with one passanger 22 bucks. The riding off island from the ferry is not all that great they are always light on snow till you get closer to the soo. They dont get any lake effect snow there or very little.
If you have any questions email me and I will try to help. Great place to take the wife and kids traffic is not to bad and trails are kept up well. the trails are tight and twisty most of the time. Take you gps and explore some of the islands arround drummond really neat but stay away from st. marys river the ice breaker goes up there and you dont want that.

I've been up there. And loved it. Woodmoor is real nice and real expensive. $105 a nite as i recall. But real real nice. The nicest room I've ever stayed in. Duanes-z sounds like the 411 for up there.

Woodmore is the place to stay. Canpasses can be arranged right there. Riding on the island is scenic and well groomed but the real riding lies north. When the ice freezes one can travel to Deberas, St. Joe's Island, Bruce Mines and Thessalon via the tree lines. Once across the ice you need to call in to customs from posted phones. Plan on getting stopped at least once too... From the north shore of Huron you can now easily access TOP Trunk A or C. We usually ride to Dubreulville the first day~ 355 miles. Chapleau is also a good first day destination ~ 235 miles from Woodmaore to the Au Troix Moulins...You will see however that the trails do not truly open up until you get north of Chapleau-
Go for it!!!
